Like a lot of long time ork players being drawn back to 40k by the new codex, I'm in the seemingly never-ending process of updating my army. I've also just recently decided that I work too slowly to justify making threads for each new unit or addition to Waaagh. Hence, this "kitchen sink" style thread. This will serve as my place to post a handful of works in progress, half finished conversions, and facelifts of older models in hopes that the peer pressure cultivated herein might actually push me to finish them! I might even be caught throwing in some of my army's backstory and character fluff, if I ever have a particularly slow day at work.
Without further ado, the goods:

You might have seen these girls before, they're my answer to Deff Koptas. You can read about their construction here.

This gnarly fella is Big Mek Deezull, Chief Spanner of the Waaagh. He never wades into battle without his trusty mek's tools. An unfortunate accident involving an arc-welder and a less than empty gas tank left him with considerably more room for the mekgineering worky bits.

This is the humble beginning of Warboss Teek, "Da Bullgod" in his warbike riding incarnation. Some fidgety dremel work and some "convincing" with a pair of pliers and he's set to straddle a smoke-churning, high octane squig-fuel burning war machine. Also present are the first few bits of the dead rippy power klaw I'm building for him.

Finally, the start of Warboss Teek's ride. I've mated the rear portion of the old ork buggy with the bike front end of the old wartrakk. I've also extended the front forks a bit with tubing, which should come as no surprise.

I'll wrap up this first installment with the obligatory glamour shots:

Looking excellent so far, Teek! Your conversions are most orky and top-notch. Deezul's head looks familiar, is that from the Meganobz minis?

I don't know....I think Big Mek Deezull could use some more tools.

Nah, these look great. After being a big fan of your Deffcopter thread, I look forward to following where Warboss Teek is going to go.

Love it!
Well, ok, in an effort to be useful, the warboss's bike maybe could be longer so it looks more solid. But then I don't know exactly the proportion compared to him, so it might be fine.
Definitely top notch conversions! Can't wait to see them painted.

Yeah, it looks a little stunty to me right now, too. But then, it might be just right with the warboss on the model...

Thanks for all the comments and input so far!

Grimteef: Yep, Deezull's head is from the meganob model. I liked the huge toothy sneer, and the bionic eye fit the character. Also, it was a surprisingly easy fit on the Grotsnik torso.

Now that I look at it, the bike does seem just a hair too stubby. Here's a shot with the boss body astride for scale:

While I'm fairly happy with that, it puts his face really, really close to the handlebars, a problem compounded by the fact that I plan to make them apehanger style bars. Enter MS Paint!

That shows the basic angle I'm thinking for bionic right arm and massive klaw left arm. While that works, it's a bit visually tall, the eye is too often pulled vertically. I can offset that with some big chunky rear fenders (which I was already planning to add). I need to score a set from the old buggy, those would look perfect and would mate with the axle I'm already using. That still doesn't completely fix the face/handlebar clearance, and so, enter Photoshop!

In this one I just stretched the bike "frame" by a little over 1/8", and the overall change to aesthetic is pretty solid. After making this image, I've been toying with ideas as to how to pull off the actual stretch with plastic card and pins, it shouldn't be too violent of a surgery. I'll more than likely be attempting that sometime tonight.

As for that power klaw in the ms paint picture? It's shaping up well! The current total is 22 individual pieces, I wouldn't be surprised to have that double before she's done. But it's looking dead killy if I do say so myself!

Sweet! I think stretching the bike does exactly what it needs to make it look more right for what you're doing. I think before that it looked a little disproportionate and unbalanced. And that Klaw is great - gubbinz here we come!

Here she is after some preliminary stretch work. I'm really happy with just how much is added with the rather minor length increase.

I plan to greenstuff some of the smaller gaps and sculpt that middle section of the saddle to match what have now become the ends. Also some of the card bits still need a bit of filing to sit flush with the existing detail. It's about halfway there. Here she is with the boss body for scale.

Next up are apehangers and big exhaust stacks. I'm also toying with the idea of a front fender, something grand and imposing, but I've yet to come up with anything I'm totally in love with just yet. Ah well, what else are slow workdays for?

Well then, I've had a bit of fun with some stuff that is green. Here's the current state of affairs:

Here's the trike with a shiny new saddle that just happens to help cover some gnarly cuts made for the stretch.

Da Boss got some new shoes! (I had it mixed up, waste not, want not!)

Here's Da Boss astride the trike, she's a good fit!

But wait a tick, what is that heinous green nub? Surely the Dok hasn't been "experrymentin" on Warboss Teek in his sleep? No, that wouldn't be proper, it has to serve some kind of purpose...

Yeah, that'll about do it!

So that's where the Biker Boss stands so far. I've also just gotten my hands on some slightly used IG sentinals, going to bash those into a few Killer Kans next time I catch a spare minute. More delicious Waagh-ness to come! For a closing shot, the Boss as he rides into the sunset:

Awesome work. The klaw details are perhaps the best bit so far, if only for "He's doing that?" value.

Heh. I love the execution of the modeling, but the klaw looks so big, it looks like it'll pull him off the side of the bike. This may seem kind of dumb, but what about Warboss Teek being chained to his bike, to keep him from coming off - a sort of Orky Seatbelt if you will?

You know, as un-orky as a seatbelt sounds, I really, really dig the idea of a tiny little squig for the buckle. As I make more progress I'll definitely try to incorporate something like that. I've been mucking about creating apehangers for the bike as well as a cybork arm for the boss to reach them. I'll get pics of those when they're at a point that I'm happy with.

For now, fun side project distraction!

I've acquired some secondhand sentinels, and I figured it was about time Deezull got his hands on one. Some serious orkish surgery resulted in a much lowered cabin stance, mold line removal, and some rather chunky orkish flavor added. The massive jaw plate is fast becoming a common styling cue throughout my army. It's very much in the infancy stages, but it's beginning to show promise as a Killer Kan. It's even been given a rather unfortunate nickname by my fledgling Tau commander roommate. He took one look at it's squat frame and dubbed it: "The Waaagh Frog"

Great. Nothing inspires fear in the hearts of man like a trundling mechanical amphibian...

Anyways, more to come!

Interesting that Tau would refer to someone else with the "frog" title.

Very cool conversion though. Going to throw anything over the top of it or just leave it open?

Stormtrooper X wrote:Going to throw anything over the top of it or just leave it open?

I've been debating on what to do with the cabin. I either go with an armored top, or leave it open and model 2 grots fighting over the controls.

While it would be very characterful to do the grots, I'm leaning more towards the top. Especially with the majority reaction being that it resembles a squig. That's sparked a few ideas on how to handle a metal top, and really nail the robo-squig flavor.

So yes, I plan to make it closed top, full-tilt robo-squig, I've just decided.

Now to figure out how to model armaments... if I articulate the jaw, that could be the dread ccw, then I'd just have to stick rokkits/kmb mount somewhere.

Thanks for all the great input so far guys, I'm glad you're digging the progress! More Biker Boss work this weekend, hopefully.

Well between a batch of exams, a birthday, and snagging copies of DoW: Soulstorm and Smash Bros. Brawl, work table time had all but dwindled in the last week or so. But I sat down yesterday and knocked out some apehangers, now the boss can steer his wreck!

New bars, all kinds of fiddly tubing work, some fat-fingered greenstuff work, and copious amounts of glue...

Da Boss trying them out, (with no arms, even). I plan to work on his cybork arm now that I have reference locations for both shoulder and hand grip.

I'll leave you with the angle the beakies will be staring down... eventually...

I think the front forks should be even longer! And the back wheels even bigger. It's a lovely looking model, but with Orks, OTT is good and you've done suitably OTT with the claw.

Mini-update! I've done a bit of work on the cybork body wysiwyg, he now has (most of) a right arm.

Ahh the joys of paperclips and styrene tubing. Still WIP, there's a good deal of cleaning and glue removal to do, and I'm testing a couple different methods for making fingers which is proving to be exceptionally fiddly. Here's a close-up:

A hand, fingers, and of course greenstuffed shoulder musculature is all forthcoming.

Finally got a night off from studying to get more done on the Waaagh!

The Squig-Kan got a paperclip roll cage, giving me framework to add my armor plating over. I'll get back to him later down the line.

As for the Boss, Migsula mentioned bigger wheels and really, what could be better? I'm working on it, and in my searching found a 4 dollar tractor toy at Target that granted me no less than twelve of these babies.

I'm still working on prying the hubs off the toy's metal axle. Otherwise I can just scrap some hubs together. Either way, it's an idea I'm definitely toying with, pardon the pun. Onto the boss: I've devised a somewhat simple solution to my custom hand dilemma. Since I plan to paint boss and bike seperately before final assembly, I've sculpted cybork fingers wrapped right around the throttle.

I've also added headlights, although I'm not in love with the middle one. Ideally I'd like to use the same tank accessory floodlight that I used on the Fatboy Jetbike, but I only had the one. (more than once I considered nicking it from the Choppa and performing some reconstructive surgery there...)

Here's the arm, with the back of the palm attached. I plan to add some spikey bits to that thin strip, to make it a row of built in knuckledusters. Now when sat upon his ride, the Boss' arm becomes complete!

With that fire stifled, I turned back to the power klaw, "Da Kan Opena". It needed juice. It just so happened that Big Mek Deezull had just the thing, the power supply to a humie lascannon. After watching "dat zappy fing" blow one of his favorite trukks into scrap, Deezull decided he needed whatever it was that contained such power. He personally ran over, beat the crew into paste with his spanner, and promptly nicked the gun's "juice box". Some orkgineering and a healthy amount of profanity later, the Boss has his very own super-charged power klaw.

So there you have it. I wish I had more time recently to devote to the hobby, but I figure slow progress is better than no progress! Finally some glory shots of the work thus far. (Ignore the front wheel falling off, it was never glued on to facilitate painting, and I only noticed the gap after taking my lights down... )
