I promised that as soon as I had enough money I'd start a Drookian Fen Guard Army and post some WIP pics, so here you go! It's only one model, but I'm pretty happy with the way it's turning out so far. This is my first time posting pics... so I hope it works. It's also my first time using Green stuff, so I hope that turned out well too.
I'll post some more pics once I've painted it. Hopefully there will be more Drookians to come...but sculpting kilts is a time consuming labor of love.
Feedback would be greatly appreciated

I added purity seals to his left shoulder and did some other detail work that you can't really see

My picture quality is pretty bad...but it's the best I can do. If anyone has suggestions for making my pictures better, that would be great.

Man, you have _got_ to learn to do closeups.

Especially when your conversions are that great!

Can you crop the picture and/or zoom in?

Any tips on taking closeups? Whenever I try them, they turn out blurry.

There is a great sticky at the top of this sub-forum that should help.

From what I can see, I'm not sure how hip I am on the Cadian shoulderpads on these guys. I mean, I know the few pics of them show them with shoulderpads, but they're more the type that go over the top of the shoulder rather than covering the whole shoulder. If you do use the Cadian arms, you might consider draping the tartan over the left shoulderpad.

Man, I wish there was a real Black Library where I could get a Black Library Card and take out Black Library Books without having to buy them. Of course, late fees would be your soul. But it would be worth it. - InquisitorMack

as mentioned before there are a few posts on the site that can help you..

but a few tips here.

first, use the macro function on your camera. usually it is an icon that looks like a flower.. this will allow for extreme closeups.

second, get more light. 3 light sources is best. one on each side and one above.

third, use something besides your hand to steady the camera, a tripod is perfect.

fourth, use a neutral background (grey, tan etc) so that the light source isn't taking the focus away from the model. sometimes the camera will focus in on the light source rather than the model.

fifth, if your camera has no macro function, then you might want to borrow a friends.

Thanks for the tips! I'll have to try this out once I get new batteries for my camera then post them.

I'm not a huge fan of using the Cadian arms for them either, as they aren't the best for swapping guns, holding knives etc. And you do bring up the good point that their shoulder pads look different in the few pictures that exist. The only problem is that they seem to be my only option. I *could* cut off the shoulder pad and greenstuff new ones (and who knows, I just might try it on a few), but I think that the most important parts are the kilt, the wrap, and the sporran since those are what gives them their unique look.
