So, I posted a few weeks back about the 40k based Apocalypse Lizardman army I'd decided to start building, and have slowly, in my spare time, been messing about with accomplishing such...

Before anyone says "but Slann were frogs", ect., the fluff I'm developing for my army has them calling themselves the "Slanni", not because they're direct descendants of the Slann themselves, but because they follow the legends of the ancient Slann, and the Old Ones, in an almost religious style tradition (albeit not in the hardcore facist sense that Imperial troops and Space Marines do the Emperor)...You can imagine, these guys would DEPLORE the Necrons and Chaos affiliated armies...

I realize some may not agree or like with how I'm going about doing my army, but as I said in my previous post on the subject, I don't really care either way...This is simply something I'm doing for me, myself and I alone...

That said, here's some pics of WIP stuff for that army...I'll update it from time to time with new pics as I work on or complete new stuff for it...

First up, the main fighting forces of my would-be army, the Sobeki (Rackham's AT-43 Karman Anakonga armor with Sebeki head and tail from Crocodile Games' Wargods of AEgyptus)...

Sobeki (pronounced - So*beK*E ; larger crocodilian humanoid reptilians)
Sobeki are the larger, stockier bodied reptilian sub-race within the species known as the Arkysyur. They are a large species, with average males standing 9 feet in height, with older, larger males often growing 10 feet or higher. Their prominent crocodilian-like features would strike fear into any adversary, and add upon this their high learning curve for technological understanding and they become even more dangerous then their hulking, broad forms would already suggest. The Sobeki originate from the planet Lustria, having evolved there (by their claims, with help from the ancient Slann) on the eastern continent of Porosus.

For the record, the spikey ball thing on his right arm isn't a blade attatched to his gauntlet...It's going to be statted as a grenade based on warp-fusion technology that clings to their armor with something akin to electomagnetism...The large spike simply allows their large hands to grip it, pop it off their armor and chuck it at their advesaries...

Next up, a Cyrnysyur Assault Mount...Once I green stuff his straps and saddle, I plan on putting a Sobeki atop him...

A basic scale comparrison between a Sobeki, a Cyrnysyur Assault Mount, and one of my son's older Chaos Space Marines to show the size difference...

Next up, a Slanni "Thunderhead"...I still have alot of greenstuff work to do on this one before it's anywhere near complete (and the purple armor is the color of the armor I used from an old action figure, so it's not my choice to be so Joker-friendly)...

Riding atop it is a Caymyn (Privateer Press's Hordes Gatorman)

Caymyn (pronounced - Kay*men ; smaller crocodilian reptilians)
Originating also from the planet Lustria (save from the western continent of Yacare), the Caymyn are the smaller cousins of the more technologically adapted Sobeki and the more primitive of the two Arkysyur sub-races. Although their intelligence allows for them to easily learn how to make use of the same high tech equipment of their larger cousins, Caymyn stem from a more ritually inclined society. Their worship of the Old Ones was adopted by the Sobeki, upon the two races finally coming in contact with one another. They excel above their reptilian relations in the realm of Beast Mastery. Much like their kith and kin from aeons prior, Caymyn are accomplished animal handlers, and use this great skill to control huge, lumbering reptilian beasts upon the battlefield.

And a basic scale between all the previous guys -

Like I said, most of these are still very much Works in Progress...

Opinions welcome and appreciated...

Dinoriders was is quite possibly one of the greatest ideas for a show to ever grace my television as a child. Only outdone by giant talking robots that do battle and transform.

Dinoriders was a cool concept. I don't know if the show
was any good, though.

Good that I am not the only one who thought of Dinoriders . I like the crocodile in the battle suit. The Caymyn just looks very odd. Especially the big gun. I suggest more Suitcrocs.

One thing to be careful with the suit crocs is the angle of the head. You want to make certain the snout is not higher than the eyes, preferably a little lower. Minor thing, but if the snout is higher it will look like the croc is staring up into the air, since the position of their eyes means they can't see below their cheeks well. Sort of the same reason we can't see our own chins.

Otherwise, it looks really good man. It should be a really amusing army to see on the field!

Croc in power armor = win

I like it, good luck with the project. The raptor + gun harness is a bit weird in my mind, just looks wonky and out of scale for some reason. Though I do like his little antenna hat, particularly when his mouth is shut and he isn't screaming or whatever

The tric looks very nice, good gun cluster and the gatorman really does look like he's doing stuff up there.

I'm very interested in your rules set per unit, my guess is carnifex for all the dinosaurs though

The Sobeki are awesome - terrific use of the Karman and nice execution of the conversion!

And the raptor with the gun harness just cracks me up - he looks like he's wearing night-vision goggles. He just needs a camo cloak and sniper rifle and he'll fit right in with the SM Scouts!

Can't wait to see where this goes!

and the nightvision-goggles dinosaur is awesome

I totally support this idea. crazy conversions like that is what makes 40k great for me.

Tons of awesome. And ditto the need to not make the powergators look like they're all staring upwards.

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

Heya guys...Been offline for a while after my comp went Kablewy...Add on to that my working tons as of late, and I've had little chance to really work on my custom army...

Save, that is, for this guy (who admittedly, is nowhere near completed) -

I have alot of green stuff sculpting work to do on him, as well as filling, but thought I'd share him since I haven't posted anything in the thread in quite some time...

I've done a few Sobeki soldiers, but like I said, I've been really busy, and haven't had the chance to start green stuffing the details on them (such as the back of their heads, ect.)...I definitely took note of people saying their heads shouldn't be looking up (which, for the record, only a couple are at present), so I made sure to make this flamer wielding soldier looking deep into the itty bitty eyes of his enemies -

Opinions and comments are welcome and appreciated...

You've fitted the armor to thaqt T-Rex very skillfully. Good work.

I repeat another poster's earlier question: what ruleset will you be using? With the basesize and armor of the Karman minis you're using as a base, some form of Marines seems a good idea, ideally termies. Chaos would allow you to make the dinos run as defilers and the Sobeki as chaos termies.

That's the cool thing about converted armies. it's yours. whether you call them slanni or even slann, it's your army to do with what you like. I really like the look of that army, but I wonder how many of your troop models you have done?

At present, I have 1 done (by done, I mean actually green stuffed out and just waiting to be painted)...I have 20 some odd Sobeki done to the degree shown standing next to the T-Rex...

My biggest problem as of late is time...But luckily, with my doing this army as something strictly for myself, I don't have to rush...

Thanks for the comments guys...

Honestly, I haven't decided yet...In the beginning I considered using the Tau codex as a template, but now don't think it'd do them justice...

As high-tech as I want this army to be, they're 9ft tall humanoid Crocodilians after all, so they wouldn't be wussies up close and personal like the Tau tend to be...

Right now, I'm leaning towards Marines, since they can be quite the force to be reckoned with, both at range, as well as in close combat...
