Well, I started a Lizardmen army and here is what I have this far:

Slann-Mage Priest
Oldblood on Carnosaur
Oldblood on foot
Skink Priest
24 Skinks
32 Saurus
8 Coldone riders
1 Salamander + handlers

What more do I need? I'm thinking that I need more Skinks and Saurus, but how much is two much? I'm also going to get a couple more Skink Priests. Are the Kroxigor, Terradons and Stegadon worth the points?

Are there any good websites for Lizardmen tactics? Or do any of you Dakkaites have any suggestions?

Thanks.

There are a couple of threads about saurus lords of doom which you might want to check out. Also, the only time that large blocks of sauruses are takes is when they are stubborn temple guard with a slaan mage priest. Because they are slow and expensive, most armies don't have saurus blocks. Instead, a lot of people use 2 units of 3 or 4 kroxigors to good effect, along with 1 or 2 units of 3 salamanders. These are the power builds. If you're just starting out with, play some games and see what you like. I'm a firm believer in Socratic tactical teaching. In all likelihood, you're the Napoleon of fantasy and I've just made a total @$$ out of myself. Oh well.

Enjoy and welcome to the cold blooded crew!

On the character side, the selectio you have now looks good. You could use a cold-one riding bsb (when you're not runnign a slann), though, but you can convert this from the saurus cavalry. You could also convert an extra footslogging scar-vet/oldblood from the normal saurus.

Regarding the troops, you have enough saurus as you can generally run either couple medium sized units (15ish) or 1 bigger unit of 20+. You could get few extra skinks, as with 30 (3x10) you can get the compulsory core choices that way. About the specials/rares, getting 4 kroxigors, 3-6 terradons, stegadon and couple extra salamanders would offer a great selection for 2k games. From these the kroxis and the extra salamanders are very important for many lizardmen lists, as the kroxigors are the heavy hitters of the armybook and the salamanders are excellent shooting unit but work best in units of 2-3.

Thanks for the advise. I do have another question:

Blowguns or Javalins?

Javalins have lower range, but the Blowguns have x3 shots. I'm leaning towards Blowguns.

Does anyone not agree with me?

blowguns every time, and they only have two shots not three. the extra shots makes them worth double their weight in gold. anything with high cost and low armor save beware for the skink blowpipes will take you asunder every time.

So let's say some cool guy I know has exactly 50 skinks, 30 BP's and 20 jav/shields.

And he wants to purchase at least 24 more skinks. Should it be adivisable to equip those, let's say 20bp/4jav ?

Yoor Speeshawl too Gawd!

More salamanders, at least one more Saurus hero on foot, and some Terradons.

Only now do I realize how much I prefer Pete Haines' "misprints" to Gav Thorpe's "brainfarts." :Abadabadoobaddon

i would get some kroxies, at the moment i have 2 units of 4, i never ran both units, but i rarely regret running them when i do run them, only against poison rats of Slavage do i not liek running these beasts.
