I havent found a combination yet that has clicked for me. It became harder when they made great weapons only +1 strength while mounted. Some builds would be nice.

If Rampage Jackson was in warhammer, he would be an ork.

There you go.

Saurus oldblood
Carnosaurus
Light armour
Shield
BSo Itzl
BSo Quetzl
BSo Sotek
Scimitar of sun resplendent
Aura of Quetzl

1+ armor save in close combat and a 4+ ward. When charging 8 s5 hits + carnosaurs attacks, works believe me.

damn, I did not know they did that. I would definately go with the Scimitar of the Sun, then.

Alright, this is sounding good, currently i give him light armour, shield, blessed spawning of Sotek, quetzl, and Itzl (so he can ride a carnosaur lol,) then for magic gear i give him the blade of Revered Tzunki and Glypth necklace. I give him that sword so he can go chasing after units of things like chaos knights or grail knights, because if he gets the charge, they face 6 strength 6 attacks with no armour saves and then the carnosaur following em up. Hes got a good armour save (1+) a decent ward save (5+ always) and hits hard. the lots of attacks with the scimitar is tempting though.

If Rampage Jackson was in warhammer, he would be an ork.

instead of the glyph necklace i'd personaly take the aura of quetzl because it's those attacks above S4 that you'll really be scared of. he still has the 2+ save vs. S4 but then he has a 3+/4+ against S5 and so on.

Here's my kitting
-Oldblood
Spawning of Sotek, Quetzl, and Itzl
Blade of Revered Tzunki
Aura of Quetzl
Light Armor
Shield
and of course the Carnosaur

Yea that sounds good. And your right i guess, if the carnosaur gets the charge, not much will be atacking back. Also pisses off those guys who take GW on everything.

Why not add enchanted shield? Pretty good deal if you are taking a magic sword with it.

The sword is 65 points of my magic gear. I already have a 1+ armour save too. Since he is my general (at least in 2K games,) i want him to have osme type of ward save. The only two ones worth taking are both 30 points. Iw ouldnt have the poits for the enchanted shield. good idea though. I usually do that on other characters. 0+ saves piss people off ( you need to be strength 6 for me to have worse then a 2+ save lol.)

the ward is always better though. in fact you could just do the enchanted shield, then take the sword of might and glyph necklace/aura a quetzl. that way you still have S6 (-3 to armor) and you have a 0+ save with the 5+/4+ ward

ah yes, that's right, my mistake. Yeah you definately want the 4+ ward.

that's the advantage of the cold one, get another two points on your armour save.

yea that is the benefit of a cold one and you don't even have to take the spawn of quetzl so your paying less for the same armor save plus causes fear (meaning his unit is also immune to it)

Obviously, the OP's question remains how to kit a carnosaur, so taking a slann is not good advice in this thread. :p

Only thing I find sad about the carnosaur, is that he can be flanked, where a character on foot can't.

with the carnosaur you have to be careful not to allow him to get flanked and drawn into traps where he's gonna get beaten down as he's frenzied

I know, ive had that problem a few times when i originally used him. Ive began to notcice however when those guys are planning on setting a trap, and protect a carnosaurs witha rank of saurus or kroxigor or somthing hard that will save his flank. And to the guy that said atake a slann, get out of here. i dont need stupid comments on a completely different topic. i want a fighty character, and a SLann could neevr fit that spot.

I always think about taking my Slann, but I always take the Carni anyway. Nothing better than Carni + Stegadon stampeding down a flank with a unit of cold ones up the middle. It's like getting hit by a runaway freight train.

Carnies aren't stupid. Slow compared to other things, but no big deal.

If you add in a supporting character and put him in some woods...like this:

Light armor, shield, GW, Jaguar, Sotek, Quetzl, Glyph.

He makes a great BOO! unit.

5 attacks, S7, move 18", 2+/5+ save.

Stick him in a unit in the back, and when your lord charges send him out too. 12+8+18=easy charges on turn two.

Then add: Skink Chief with...

Cloak of Feathers, Scouts; and when it was time to charge; place the Skink Chief behind UBER ENEMY UNIT TARGET. If they run, death is instant from the Skink Chief.

Everyone hated my army when I did that, so I changed it to a Slaan.

They seem to hate it more now though. lol

a scouting unit of skinks does the same as the chief for less. saurus characters are always better for lizardmen

It's not exactly easy to get a unit of skinks behind the middle of a battle line on turn 1, ya know.

It's usually impossible, even with Chamo Skinks...which cost more.

If you know something I don't, please feel free to share.

true enough, but still the skink chief is only unit strength 1 so how does he take out a fleeing unit? the unit has to be unit strength 5 to be auto killed by running through it.

Good point. Silly beta test armies.

Can't imagine why they changed it to US5!

So that cheap and/or very mobile single model units such as eagles, speedy vamps/skinks/pegasus heroes/wood elf alter nobles/etc can't "crossfire" because that would suck a bit too much for certain armies.

i tried the carnasaur w/ shield of mirrored pool, ward save and poison great weapon, attached to a unit of cold ones with the always charge banner, and the BSB with the -1 to hit banner. Huge amount of points, but nothing can withstand it.

Personally, I like the shield of maiming. Sotec, maiming, isn't there a sword with two more attacks(?), frenzy for a huge amount of attacks. :p

the model riding the mount doesn't get frenzy, but yes with the scimitar of the sun resplendent + maiming shield + spawning of sotek gives the rider 9 attacks at S5. pretty darn good. plus the carnasaur's 5 S6 attacks, kill kill kill!

@ torgoch why give the rider a great weapon? he can't use a shield then and only gets a +1 strength bonus. I'd just give the guy a spear, shield, and then venom of the firefly frog for the poison.

I tired out the 9 attack carnosaur, and it work well on low armoured armies. He killed about two units or orcs (one unit of big uns and another unit of blacks,) then he got killed however because the black ork warboss charged in, issued a challenge, then killed my old blood from lack of a ward save. It really sucked. That and my attacks back didn't make it through his 2+ (4+ because of my strength 5 with another 5+ ward save) very well. I didnt take a wound off of him and he took 2 off of me and one off the carnosaur. I lost by 2, and somehow rolled 3 5's and ran away and got run down. Thats y i usually stick with a ward save and a weapon that can go some heavy damage.

If Rampage Jackson was in warhammer, he would be an ork.

yea that would preempt me to do the same, but not all instances are gonna be that way. anyway he made his points back taking out the big uns and the black orcs at least

I am running a mobile cav list for my lizardmen and I really can't decide if the old blood is better than kroq-gar. I hate to throw this off a bit but I was curious if anyone had more experience with it than the few games I have running it now.

How long do you have to get out of a mine field?
