Is this how the new High Elves will play?

How do tourneys score comp when High Elves break army
composition?

I don't really know the army that well. Can 7 masters win
CR against a block? And how do HEs with lots of foot troops
guarantee a favorable hand to hand phase?

Around here there is no comp score anymore at tourneys. And even when there was a comp score.... getting tanked in comp hardly mattered when you pull 3 massacres.

7 Swordmasters can pretty much kill any block. 14 Str 5 Attacks that strike first mean 9.33 hits and 6.22 wounds against T4. 6.22 wounds means the entire enemy front row is dead, (including the champion I think), so no attacks are coming back. So it's 6.22 CR vs 4-5 CR for the block.

Basically how the list plays is it sits back as a gun line, magicing/shooting things to death, and whatever gets close, the swordmasters kill in combat.

The sad thing is this army is perfectly fluffy, as this is what an army of Hoeth would look like.

Yay, cheese. I see some room for improvement, though:

1) Get some decent bodyguard unit for Teclis. It's not too far fetched that his 10 archer/7 swordmaster buddys will be shot and he gets cannonsniped etc. In the end, he has to see stuff to cast the good spells, so he can't hide in the bushes all game long. You don't have to invest to phoenix guard bunker, even 20ish spears would be allright.
2) Get Skeinsliver. Getting that 1st turn is very important.

This list is an example of uninsipired powergaming. I see it getting trashed by pretty much every incarnation of the cheese armies. If your tournaments no longer have comp then I pity you and hope that eventually someone around your area learns how to run a real tournament some day.

I was just asking about how composition is scored in
regards to HElves allowing them to field more/less of
certain unit choices.

But here's the question: why didn't they just put the
special units into Core and vice versa?

Because the high elves are supposed to be 'elite' warriors. There are not so much of them, but they are so talented and long lived (still, they're pussies) that there are much more elite (read: special) warriors out there then fillers.
