My HQ only rides around in style.

Bought the dark elf cauldron of blood set and Asdrubael Vect cheap off of ebay and figured that I could use the parts for some cool conversions.

1st idea was to replace the throne in the Vect set with the cauldron from the cauldron of blood and turn that into hot tub. Shown is vect, but I'm using a custom model for my HQ that I haven't started working on yet. Since this kabal is more of a crime syndicate than a typical kabal I'm thinking of throwing in something like a cadian officer chilling out with him or something. You know, somebody's gotta buy the guns he stole, and underfunded/supplied chapters/platoons could use them.



With the leftover parts I'm going to combine the statue of Khaine with the throne to create a big centerpiece flagship. Since I got two identical witch elves that I can't use anyway I'm trying to cut off the torso and legs and just keep the chest and swords as a figurehead.

The thing is I don't know if I should do both and use them both for different things(with one being the vect equivalent and the other just being a decked out raider, possibly for my smaller HQs) or use either one for a game and make the babes/gunners hot swappable, or just make the throne ship a display piece and seriously trick it up. Either way, I've got a lot of bits to use somehow.

Regardless is this a good idea y/n.

i think that it is a really kool idea and i think that you should go for it.

i also think that making one of them a display piece would be kool, because then you have an excuse to spend A LOT of time on one mini (which i personally like doing)

I'm thinking of going the display piece route come to think of it. That statue is kind of top heavy, and I worry about moving the raider around with it up there or hell just transporting it in general. It would probably do best just up on the shelf kicking butt. Still, seems kind of a waste that way.

well it all depends on how you view a "waste" of a mini.

i think that, even though you are just going to put it up on a shelf, if you spend a long time on a mini and it looks totally kick ass, that it is not a waste of a mini, just a different way of using it.

i see it like painting a Golden Daemon mini. you are going to spend a LOT of time on it, and you are probably NEVER going to put that mini on the TT.

Ah, but there are. Not every planet is of massive importance to the Imperium, and the Dark Eldar tend to strike on the fringe. They don't have any real agenda, they just want to terrorize and plunder. To do so in the heart of the Imperium or anywhere heavily fortified/important would be suicidal and bring back much less of an overall profit.
Not every chapter has top of the line equipment, not every planetary force is well-supplied.

Or so at least I think.

Big "pimp'in" in the raider!!! I love it!!! The driver has to have a chain steering wheel & leopard skin upholstery! Vect should be in the tub w/hotties & Xibit in front of a big flat screen TV. Sorry, I had to, I just couldn't help myself. Seriously it's a cool idea!!
