OK, so I'm playing with an idea. And I'm not saying it's a good one. But hear me out.

Nid rules for a genestealer cult, with stealers as stealers, gaunts as hybrids and rippers as endless hoards of cultists.

So if I do it I need about a gazillion cultists and LotR guys are looking like strong possibliles. Now most medieval weapons look fine in 40k but bows and sheilds do not.

I converted up a bunch of Harad to serve as terrorists of an unspecified religious denomination. But turning bowmen into gunmen was annoying and I don't see the GS cultists as having much in the way of rifles, just knives. Possible but I want to look at other options.

Harad

Yeah, evil, evil cultists, lots of archers though

Corsairs

Evil humans, not too many archers.

Uruk Hai scouts

Deformed heads. Charging poses. Could be a winner. Do the shields come off?

Morannon Orcs

Another good unit, but do the shields come off?

Easterlings

I suppose the heads are one unit huh? Don't like the heads.

Rangers

Now these guys scream culty, but they all have bows.

I don't even KNOW anymore.

The only things that I can honestly comment on are the Uruk-hai scouts. Their shields are attached to their arms, but that arm is separate from the body castings. Hope that helps.

The size difference is too much i think

The size difference might work out if you paint them to be very drawn and pale, such that their smaller stature would look more a result of poor nutrition and sickness than just "bad scaling of minis".
Otherwise, I can't see your pics, so I can't speak to what you have there.

I think all the LotR plastic sets, other than the Uruk Hai warriors, has 1/3 to 1/4 bows.

In the dark future, there are skulls for everyone. But only the bad guys get spikes. And rivets for all, apparently welding was lost in the Dark Age of Technology. -from C.Borer

I would not even bother using them. As per GW's rules you cant use any of them in any GW event or RTT. If they are for home use sure go ahead but other wise they are unusable in any competetive event legaly and a waste of time and effort. Stick to non Gw minis for conversions or within the 40k range.

GTs aren't really an issue for KK, as he frequently posts
conversions and whole entire squads based on outside
companies.

Could you maybe get Haradrim and either eBay or trade away the bowmen? I mean, those gunmen you've made are so neat-looking, it would be really cool to finish out the set.
