for the warriors are you running them 6 wide, because that would be recommended. Also you can make them chosen and make the knights regular. that will be around the same points and you character is already fighty enough to make the unit not easily beaten in combat. Other than that it's a good list

Thx I plan to be getting into fantasy as I like the concept more than 40k. And assembling the army is a slooooow process :( so im starting with just 1000 to get a grasp of the rules.

it really is a much better game than 40k due to depth of game play and true need for tactical expertise

In smaller games you see opposing monsters or large stuff rarely, so the bit expensive rending sword goes to waste on the exalted champ. I recommend that you switch it to sword of might which is a nice all-around weapon, and cheaper too. The dogs are usually pure throw-away units so it's wise to take them minimum sized. With the leftover points you could take warbanner to either the warriors or to the knights so you get some extra static combat resolution.

ya i planed to run the dogs as a screen for the knights and to threaten flanks. and i was not sure how good the common weapons were and what to take. but thx for the insight.

For something really nasty drop the chosen and the warriors, add another 5 knights and 5 marauder horsemen, if you drop the rending sword for the sword of might you can give your sorcerer a chaos steed (improves his survivability and mobility). This is a list that I use (or something close to it) frequently, as with most chaos armies it hits like a ton of bricks but may not have the staying power for protracted combats. Hope that helps

Are warriors not that good? Also are the marauder hoarse men worth it? And should they have flails? I was going to stick the sorc with the warriors but I do like the mounted idea for more maneuverability. Sorry for all the questions but just getting my first WHFA up and running and looking for some of the other followers of the dark lords for some good ideas so I dont look like a total newb lol.

Chaos warriors have a great stat line and can beat most other infantry hands down but they are agonizingly slow at movement 4, the knights, chariots, warhounds and marauder horse let you (or should in theory) pick your fights (hopefully ones that you can win) I love the warrior model and when I do use them I go all out - minimum unit size 18, full command, chosen, mark(usually tzeentch for funky banner) to give them some survivability and allow them to get across the field. Of course that comes at a price tag of about 450 pts for the unit

As for marauder horse, fast cav allows you to get around the flanks of your enemy for those all important flank charges. I don't run flails on mine, they aren't there to win the combat by themselves, just cancel ranks, shields make them a bit more survivable and a musician is an absolute must if you plan to bait and flee but after that it just seems like a point sink to me
