That thing is gorgeous. I don't give a rat's ass that it doesn't have the traditional front-disembark ramp. It looks way better. I agree with shrike about having a nicer looking model.

now i think that one is aweful.
as someone that likes military vehicles i like there practicality, i like to see a purpose filled by its design. if looks was what made a good military vehicle then the italians would be the world superpower and the russians would be extinct

What is a stormraven? That looks like it was made from parts of a thunderhawk, just a conversion.

Go look @ a current Blood Angels Codex for the rules.
And its not a conversions, thats a confirmed leaked pic of a new model. Make sure you look @ the pic on the first page, not the 'shopped ones.

I believe the model is spot on from the fluff. You have to think, the front is going to be heavier becuase this thing is designed to carry a dreadnought. Beautiful things do not always have to be pretty, example the A-10 worthog.

Gravity goes downward, not foward. There's always wind, which isn't even effected by gravity. Think before you post.

I think the model looks quite ugly. It doesn't look like a plane or a gunship at all. It might look good if you would squeeze the image in photoshop or something. lol

really, the awful bits are:
the FUgly vent overhanging the turret
the turret (doesn't look in place, probably nice on a razorback tho)
the missing back.

I agree thats its ugly.... But its a functional ugly, in my book. So I like it. Asthetics are a personal thing.

I was refering specifically to people saying "It will never be able to fly". aerodynamic lift is pretty much irrelevent in the 40K universe.

Looks completely terrible, i use a slightly modified forgeworld aquila lander as my stormraven, complete with working action drop down assault ramp

(minus the horrid lookig r2 bubble dome atrocity anyways ...)

Bigger wings would lead to transportation problems (when i am carrying it to and from games) So i made the wings kind of small, since wings do not matter much in 40K.

I totally disagree with that. The Thunderhawk would burn up if it even looked @ a hint of atmosphere. It MIGHT be able to fly if it was delta winged. But most the weapons would be ripped off by the airstream.

So...on with rationalization hat.

I'm betting they have some sort of shilding that lets them enter atmosphere without burning up. Most Imperial aircraft would need it, as they are all about as Aerodynamic as a brick with cardboard wings.

The most aerodynamic aircaft that look like they might have a chance at flying, but no way they would be able to break the sound barrier are the Aquila Lander and the Lightning fighter.
