Glad to hear your week is going better! Loving the work you've done here, Valkyrie is so vibrant, lovin that yellow and those feathers. Great colour scheme. The Hellion and Wyches are very striking too, good contrasts and colour choice, Totally digging your DE. That Space marine came out great too, the green is a nice shade and I'm a sucker for the light armour. Smart move on keeping the parts for your Reaver and Kabalites separate, definitely makes getting them all painted a lot easier.

@Inevitable_Faith: The yellows are working well but I'll be glad when the Crows are done. Tamiya clears give fun results but holy Svarg are they a pain. Also, yellow is a dedicated PITA. Hopefully the next gang's colors will pass muster also.

I just really wanted to paint something in Pre-Heresy Death Guard colors and I had the parts for that kitbash sitting in a bin for a couple years now. Didn't want to paint up a squad and didn't have any other mahreens so Brother Influzia was born. Luckily, he worked!

I learned the value of sub-assemblies long ago. Even basic bolter mahreens had their arm/weapon/pad sub assembly left off. Especially with plastics it saves four letter words for when they're really needed.

However, on to today!

I hear ya on yellows, my Scions are yellow and it is a difficult colour to paint.
Those Fey are gorgeous, love the idea of having each one represent a season and you nailed the colours fro each. Great job. And 4/4 on goals?! That's a double win.

@Inevitable_Faith: On the upside if you get your large area of yellow smooth and it has any depth the compliments come pouring in.

The season thing comes from their rules actually, I just did my best to bring it out in their paint job.

As for today, 6 Svarging years. That is how long these Svargers have been taunting me. 6 years of taunting, never quite removed from the que.


Felt like painting something but didn't want to put too much effort in. Remembered these guys were in the FINISH THESE ALLREADY! Que and had a lazy scheme smack me in the face. Scorched Metal bulk, Natural Steel worky bits, Gem Purple cloth, and probably Old Gold accents. And they even have fluff!

During the Mongh-Kiegh's so called "great crusade" a contingent of "Night Lords" were engaged and eventually captured by a gang in H.A.M.Y.'s employ. Upon their return these "Night Lords" escaped and caused the local gangs significant trouble. After their eventual extermination several gangs expressed regret at the loss of such stimulating opponents. In response H.A.M.Y. entombed the first of what would eventually become many un-augmented Mong-kiegh in the still functional suits and given "freedom" amongst the spires. Over time the process has been refined and the "hosts" now have the skills to operate their armor-tombs encoded in their minds which is slowly added to and overwritten by a gestalt consciousness housed in each suit. This repeated and unending forced life has resulted in the gestalts bonding emotionally, going quite insane, and becoming almost as cruel as their nominal captors. Almost.

Do we need to lock you up with a shrink?

Oh man the old Raptor models! These are by far some of my favourite sculpts GW has ever done, definitely my favourite in the chaos lineup. I was so disappointed when they made the new plastic Raptors with a totally different design philosophy. The colours you're gunna do these in sounds like an excellent compliment to them, looking forward to seeing this get done.

@Ineviteable_Faith: They are great sculpts but suffered two awful (for them) materials. They were completely impractical stability wise in metal and the debacle that was early Finecast hurt them. I have the Finecast versions and between casting issues and hating the swishy whatever they were supported on only one full pair of feet survived via Frankenstein-ing together the good bits. Another only lost its toes but the other three had full foot-ectomies.

As for how the colors come together I'll let the cruelty of the inter-tubes decide:


They still need a universal application of Army Painter Dark Tone Ink but are otherwise "done".

Good job on them, they look menacing, the ink will help add a bit of depth to the purple which will be good.

Yeah the fiddly little warp flame they balanced on was a ridiculous idea on the sculptors part, in metal they were too heavy and tipped over far too easy (often times dislodging the extremely heavy jump pack from their back), and finecast was... well it was finecast. Without their flames what's your plan for basing them?

Can't really see it but to base them I drilled 1/16 diameter holes into their bell bottoms, glued 3/64 diameter brass rod in, cut the rods to rational length, carefully bent the rods so they weren't flying drunk, glued them to their bases, and applied black.



As for the rest, 'Thulu obelisk has been sitting finished for a while but pups, Vash, and 3-Purple-0 were finished today.

Very clever idea for standing them Raptors up. The DE are seeing some good progress too . Out of curiosity what's the gold you used for that Hellion Skyboard, it looks to have applied very smoothly which is a struggle with the gold I currently use.

Vallejo, Model Color, 70.878, Old Gold. Without thinning it requires 1-2 coats on most trim and such but 2-4 on large areas. You do have to let it dry good between layers or it will peel badly creating ridges. If you've ever seen latex body paint it does that easily torn second skin thing if it isn't completely dry. A couple of Vallejo's other metallics have had the same quirk but the golds and brasses are the best I've tried for coverage so I think it's worth the hassle.

@ Inevitable_Faith: Yup, 2 copies. One is remaining sealed until I need it or decide to sell it off. As for stupid amounts of hellions/DE FA, eh, it keeps the gangs small.
As for the yellow, not much left for it. Once the Crows are done I plan on avoiding it like the plague.

A) Living Statue of Sokar, Reaper Miniature's not-Egyptian pantheon prime god.
2) Yeah, I LOVE how the blue ink I have acts when applied over other blue paints.

3) Commercial Drivers License, basically I'll be able to legally drive vehicles and get paid for it. I'm getting a class A which covers air breaks and combination vehicles, AKA the average Semi. Class B is good for the larger delivery trucks without trailers, not sure what bus/limo/taxi drivers need in the US.

It`s funny the minor differences we have here north of the border. For us air brakes is labelled as `Q` on our license and taxi/ambulance/bus with fewer than 24 passengers is a class 4 and semi/large bus is class 1.

Thanks, the sci-fi are stock Mantic Enforcers specifically 5 Peacekeepers, 2 medics, and a KS exclusive Sgt. Howlet.
The Cult were based entirely on quick, lazy, and acceptable targets. Usually I do inhuman or try for varied skintones but this lot are always Evil, always villainous, NPCs to be viciously slaughtered. Therefore, evil white people.

I love the pale colour scheme you picked for Zoraida, just enough warmth in there to give her life too. The Malifaux group you did there too is looking very nice, the purples are gorgeous and the pink on the lady is eye-catching in all the right ways.

@Inevitable_Faith: Thanks for the kind comments and sorry about the lack of response. Life was kinda chaotic starting the new job and by the time I’d settled in I’d forgotten all about replying. I find going from black to bubblegum pink via purple gives a wonderfully rich magic purple. As for the nurse’s pink I was just trying to match the look of the fetish costumes she was clearly based on.

In other news, HAHAHA!!! Home for a couple days, so I’ll be disappearing soon but I got some work done.

Omega Team fluff:
With the creation of the Primaris Marines the rules have changed. When the Alpha Legion joined with Horus it was not as servants of Chaos but as a mercy killing of the Imperium. But alas, we failed and many have lost their way to serve Chaos blindly. Not us. We subborned the creation of a small number Primaris to use Legion Geneseed. So far it appears they have not been corrupted by the Ruinous Powers. As a test a small team has been sent to infiltrate a Drukhari city. If they succeed the next test will be in The Eye. Perhaps one day we can help rebuild the empire that we betrayed...
