So... Before my wife and I got married we talked about the fact that she wanted children and I didn't want children. She said it would be okay, that she would not resent me, that we should get married anyway.

Cut to last weekend when she said she wanted kids more than anything else and I'm... well... me, and she didn't think this relationship was going to work after all.

I did the only thing I could think of to do and tried to kill myself. That didn't work out. I spent the week in the hospital in the special "behavioral" ward.

Now I'm back. I'm going to throw myself into school and painting/modeling and just try to take it day by day.

As I work on things I'll post pictures but I probably wont be around on all the blogs as much as before.

I wrote and deleted 3 or 4 replies before I figured Grim's sentiments were the same as mine, and managed to articulate them better than I.

Terrible and devastating news. I have had my share of ups and downs with deaths in the family and my wife getting very close herself with a very serious lifelong condition.

I can speak with some level of shared experience of the bad times and even though it may seem hollow and of little comfort now but: it does get better.

You just need to make sure you are there to see it. There are plenty of people that can and will help so please get in contact with them and look forward to a brighter future.

Everyone else has summed it up, I am not going to wax like a poet.

Very rough news to hear, I've almost been there myself a time or two, I can see the logic.

I'm doing my best to hang in and keep myself distracted.

I've been working on my LoER entry.

You can see that I've added some honorary rivets on the stones. I'll have some on the goblin too, I just don't know where yet.

Aside from adding the snotlings, all of the construction parts of the project are finished.

I have a HUGE amount of painting left to go though.

I think I should still finish in time.

Huh, looks pretty solid, and looks like it should be a very functional piece of terrain which is always good.

Yeah, there have been a couple of times that my friends and I have wished we had some sort of Orc Idol terrain. I think this will fit the bill and we can spread it all over the board since this is 7 individual pieces.

EyeamRai - stay strong. time is remarkably effective medicine.

the stones look good, but that goblin idol head looks awesome. can't hardly wait to see the finished result.

I'm a big fan of the sculpted gobbo head stone, it's pretty cool.

The standing stones just look a little off to me. They are thin and half of the are balanced on a corner. Magic spinning stones ?

Gawdam - thanks, man. Painting on them is slow but it is coming along.

adamsouza - I like how the goblin head came out too. Hopefully I will still like it after I've gotten more paint on it. The stones are a little thin. I would make them a little thicker if I were to do this project again. When it is all done there will be little snotlings playing on and around the stones, knocking them over, that's why a few of them are modeled with the tilt.

Here are my results for the LoER competition.

The theme was "What Went Wrong?!" it is supposed to be an accident in progress.

What went wrong here is a bunch of snotlings found these statues and started playing on them and they are in the process of falling over.

The goblins in my world have red skin so these were carved out of stones that have glowing red parts in them.

They look great all painted up

I hear what you're saying about the stones being a little thin, but then again, if they were too hefty they wouldn't get knocked over by snotlings

the stones and head are a LOT bigger than i had expected! i expected the goblin head was about the size of a pack of cigarettes, but it looks much larger than that...nicely done, man!

adamsouza, ayoku, monkeytroll, and Gawdam - Thanks! I know they are far from masterpiece level work but this was a serious learning experience for me. I learned that while I do want to make more terrain, I don't think sculpting is where I want to spend/waste my time!

Hey! I got a fancy new title! I'm an Excited Doom Diver now!

It's a lot faster, and easier, to carve up styrofoam than it is to sculpt, once you get the hang of it.

The stones came out well. I think its a pretty cool theme for the contest, and you captured it well.

adamsouza - I'll keep that in mind and try styrofoam in the future.

I still haven't done anything with the scroll saw I got for Christmas. Perhaps I can figure out how to use that for some modeling stuff.

squall- Thanks! It looked my cooler in my head but it's been an experience and I guess I can't ask for more than that.

I'm going to be entering Paradigm's painting contest for April. I'm still trying to decide if I'm going to paint a Solitaire or a Shadowseer. It will be a Harlequin for sure though.

Does my terrain piece count as more than one model for my yearly model count? One for the whole thing or one for each base.

What do you guys think?

I was shaking my head in dissapointment, just this morning, when I realised that the scroll saw and airbrush I bought, before the holiday, are both still in their boxes, unused.

It's been too cold and rainy/snowy for me to want to mess with the airbrush, and I just haven't had any inspiration with what to do with the scroll saw.

I would say since they all have separate bases they are separate models.....

They standing stones look great. I think that scatter around a battlefield they would add some fantastic interest and detail as well.

The glowing runes have turned out really well. You should be pretty happy with how they have turned out.

It's just getting nice enough for me to get out onto my porch and start fiddling with the scroll saw. I still haven't gotten my airbrush but I will at some point.

I'm pretty excited, they moved Kill Teams to a night where I can play so I'm going to take my alien walls and try it out with my Tyranid warriors.

Hopefully I'll get to try it out next week. I need to find my warriors...

I actually got a vote on the people's choice awards for my LoER entry! (no I didn't vote for myself )

I'm pretty stoked about that.

Let me know how the warriors work out. We have kill teams going on around here, and no one has fielded Tyranids yet.
