Wow, I haven’t seen those old second edition boyz in years! Nice work getting some variety in there and mixing them in with some kitbashes.

Next lot of the second squad ready to be based includes the nob and another kit bashed 2nd ed boy.

We need more 2nd edition orks, they have so much character. All looking great.

Yes that’s right I’ve finished the squad! Just need to base them and I’ll take some group photos. Actually did a little victory dance last night as these guys seem to have taken forever.



Here is the full 30boy squad all painted and based. I think the 2nd ed boys blend right in. Looking at them the one thing I noticed missing is glyphs and checkers, but I can always add those at a later date. Right now i'm extremely happy with the result iv'e got. there all ebay rescues and I recognised alot of black reach guys in there, but on the whole they look good and probably cost around £15, so not bad.





And now some obligatory army shots of all the models ive completed so far.





Now that squad is done I can get on with something more fun, making my own Ork Kommandos. Making these guys atually gave me the motivation to finish the boyz.
The idea with these guys is to cover them in scrap metal to illustrate how sneaky and kunnin' they are.























And the status of some other projects.

Painted my 1st 3 ork commandos, the idea is there handing in with scrap metal and other junk hence why they have metal plates stuck to them. Kunnin’ orks. I’ve done them with less grey and stuck junk in there based so they look like there blending in. To the trained eye of a scout they would stand out like a sore thumb, but in a battle zone with dust being kicked up and troopers being flung around in there transports they might just stand a chance of sneaking up on you, (or more accurately stumbling into them laying in wait).






I also managed to Paint my very 1st bike. I mostly modelled this years back in this thread from a ramshackle.com bike. It’s not perfect and a few bits broke of in the painting but it’s better than sitting in a bits box! Hopefully it will give me the motivation to finish some more bikes.







Next project before I carry on with my commandos is make a war boss with big chopper and a big Mek with pk. Now my current war boss has a hell of pk so I want to use that for the big mek. Consider just converting him to be the big mek and make a kff to stick on his back and use the ork behind him as a base for my war boss OR swap his arm for a choppa and build a new big mek with the nob from the boyz box and this this bfpk. Decisions, decisions...

Interesting concept on the Ork Commandos, sort of reminds me of some work someone did years ago when an ork was holding up a poster in front of it to hide behind.

Yeah I know the picture you mean haha definitely gave me inspiration, my fave is the one where there all hiding as one tank.

So I built a new big mek from scratch and he’s looking pretty good.

5 more dudes, 4 rokkit guys and and a burna for my scouts.

Interesting scratch built Big Mek you have made there. Congratulations on getting five more Orks painted for the horde.

Cheers boys, yeah really pleased with the mek, almost painted up and on a new base. Thanks for the support managed to bash these guys out aswell as painting up the mek. Again now I’ve got most of my emu painted I can spend some more time on them so adding more colour where I can to break up the red and grey, aswell as adding a bit to the bases although that hasn’t done much.



And this is the commandos squad so far with normal ork for comparison so you can see how stealthy they are.

@amazingturtles - thanks my man! Was difficult to work out how to get them to stand out against the normal boys and I’m pleased they have worked. Still got the rest of the squad to do.

He’s a bit messy, I think I went too liberal on the rust but he’s playable so I’m happy for now.

I think he looks very appropriate. Don't sweat the small stuff!

Yeah, i think the dirty rust effect will make him fit in even better with the rest of them. What I really like though is his little box of tools.
