Thanks gobert and yes, THERE WILL BE BLOOD... eventually, when everything‘s painted

Thanks for the input, I‘ll just try both ideas, blue tac should help there.

And got a little bit done on the bigger pieces, next up is metallics on these and two other pieces.

Terrain is looking great.

For the vamp, gamewise, a parry is always nice to have, and a club is good for knocking heads in, so I say sword and/or mace.

Ok that kellermorph looks ace you have really done the model justice! Please stop painting up those Warcry models and terrain I can’t afford another game . They look great too.

Thanks youwashock! I'm leaning towards mace (represented by the pick), because my Nighthaunt stand-in vampire has a sword and in all honesty, I don't need a second hand to count the times, I was able to parry attacks

Yorkright wrote: Ok that kellermorph looks ace you have really done the model justice! Please stop painting up those Warcry models and terrain I can’t afford another game . They look great too.

Thanks Yorkright, he was fun to paint and I hope that in late spring he has some more painted GSC buddies to use him in Kill Team. And I feel you with not being able to afford another game, that's how I feel every time I look at what Graven has been painting

Captain Brown wrote:Almost there with the terrain Viterbi.

Thanks Captain Brown, terrain is my least favorite stuff to paint and I envy people like you how not only paint theirs beautifully, but are also able to built something from scratch!

But I'm getting closer and closer, need to age the bell a little with patina and a little metal drybrush. I have one big terrain piece not pictured that also just needs metal on the gate/cell thingies and then comes the only favorite part: Getting blood on everything

And I have put the first color on a cabal mini, will try to paint the whole warband only with contrast, let's see how that turns out.

Finally got some new stuff, but trying not to get the backlog to high. But seeing Optimus Prime in youwashocks blog, I had to get one. Fortunately I found a ebay seller, that charged only the normal price and a reasonable shipping rate to Germany.

So much great stuff here! The terrain looks really good, even if you don't particularly like painting it. Loving the Kelemorph, and eagerly looking forward to the Cabal. A bit envious of the three monsters..

The terrain is really coming along nicely, I agree that can seem like a bit of a chore to paint. Am interested to see how you Corvus Cabal Contrast Experiment works out as they are very detailed miniatures.

I'd say the terrain is looking excellent. It looks just as good as what I see in the stores so if you are getting that effect from a quick technique, then that seems like a win.

They will spent some time in limbo for now, but I'm looking forward to painting them. Haven't yet decided, if I go for normal paintjob or tie them to some of my armies.

Thanks mcattila! And if you are envious of the monsters, check out ListenToMeWarriors plog, he has painted two of them and the sphinx cat up and they look great. They are amazing sculpts.

ListenToMeWarriors wrote:The terrain is really coming along nicely, I agree that can seem like a bit of a chore to paint. Am interested to see how you Corvus Cabal Contrast Experiment works out as they are very detailed miniatures.

Thanks ListenToMeWarriors, luckily contrast paint makes it a little faster. And yeah, those cabal have some small details, may paint them with normal paint after blocking everything else in with contrast. But first need to do some touchups with Wraithbone, didn't get everything with the rattlecan, as I found out under the harsh light of my magnifying glass.

The Riddle of Steel wrote:I'd say the terrain is looking excellent. It looks just as good as what I see in the stores so if you are getting that effect from a quick technique, then that seems like a win.

Thanks The Riddle of Steel, it really is mostly contrast. The wood got a drybrush with some lighter brown, but the rest is just slabbered on Metal takes most of the time, because I have to paint clean.

And had a friend over yesterday and although I don't like playing with unpainted stuff, we tried out WarCry, because I'm really eager to play it. Was a fun game, like the randomly generated missions, both warband felt thematic (the cabal fast with quick attacks, the bonereapers slow but tough). Stilt guy really did good damage on the stalker, but next round my friend used a quadruple and that skeleton got 4 extra attacks and pulverized the birdman :(

Thanks Syro_! I like that they are nearly done

Made a little progress on the cabal, painted about half an hour, was to tired to do more. Thanks to the virus I'm working from home, but with the 3- and 5-year-old, which is a little taxing. But I have holiday days after the 30th.

Good start on the bird lads. I guess you’ll be going dark on their clothes, but I think they’d look pretty cool with white/bone colours, worth a try?

Thanks Yorkright and it will be a bit of both, I'm taking inspiration from the GW scheme, but won't copy it 1:1.

youwashock wrote:Looking forward to seeing the Cabal finished. Looks like a good start, so far. Especially the big guy.

Thanks youwashock, I'll be happy, when they are done. May try to get some painting in this evening, want to get everyone their red spot color and start on their skin, which will be rather messy.

Thanks gobert! I was going to do dark cloth, but may try your idea, because I will paint the cloth last. Could be an excuse to try out some Apothecary White. We'll probably know more in a week

Nice work on the Warcry stuff. Almost jumped into it last week, but missed my chance at one of the starter sets . I did grab the Maggotkin cards to go with my army, so eventually I’ll get in a game.

The bird bois are looking great so far.

Looking good so far. Stupid related though, if you didn't want to do white, I'm reminded that blue jays are a corvid, and a nice blue, possibly with white accents, might contrast well off those red hair poofs you've got going...

Thanks Theo! And are you sure, you want to go down that rabbit hole?

Thanks vejut and I may try that out too!

Did only a little work, I now realize that I need the motivation of upcoming games to paint faster A bit more details on the Cabal, will finish the two models in front first, together with Cypher for the contest. After that it's the 5 little birds and as a grand finale big bird and ladybird.

Found a pocketful of motivation and nearly finished two of the models, everything Contrast and as simple as possible. Not my best work, but quite satisfied for the time they took. Tried blue trousers and like the look. The five normal guys will get Apothecary White over their cloth. Haven‘t decided yet what to do for the two lead birds.

The Norwegian Blue has beautiful plumage

Seriously nice looking work , love that color.

Not sure about that rabbit hole, but since I was building a Maggotkin army I figure having the crossover into Warcry would be good. Plus there are some neat models I’d love to do ( of course), which could be used as allies in AOS. I’d love to convert that Fomoroid Crusher into a Nurgle looking ally.

Thanks graven, they are not nice birds. And I feel like the green of the armour doesn't fit with the light blue of the cloth (my wife outright said so ), but I'll weasel myself out with "they are chaos worshippers unimpressed with color theory )

Thanks Vejut, the cloth has a rather carribean look, now that you say it.

I would love to have the Norwegian Blu(-ray) set, but then I shouldn't buy so much minis

And thanks, happy you all like them.

You may be right, if you are building and painting AoS models, that can be used in WarCry, it is of course a small step to starting the game. If you try starting 5 warbands and buy all the monsters, it's not such a good idea

Thanks Captain Brown, I'll be glad, when I can put this small warband behind me, but it feels always good to say, this model is finished.

gobert wrote:I agree with vejut, they look kinda tropical or maybe Superb Starlings? Good to see you’re keeping up your output in difficult times!

Thanks gobert, and curse you for bringing up Superb Starlings. Now my leader will be called Clarice, no way around that Luckily times are more strange than difficult atm, having the kids home all the time will probably bother them more than us in the next few weeks, but it's nice seeing how they play with each other without trying to bash their heads in Hope your family is well too!

And slowly painting along, put the skin on the five normal birds, but missed some spots where their arms still had some red on after reapplying the base color. Ah well, they are fading tattoos, never shy for an excuse
Did the bases on the middle management birds (they definitely need some blood, once all models are finished) and applied some contrast to scatter terrain so that this will finally get done. Not sure about the skeleton in the fountain, it feels out of scale despite being a GW model.

Nice choice of name for the leader, the Iron Golems have a bit of a Hannibal look to them with their metal faceplates...

I know what you mean about the kids, it’s great seeing them through the day. So far they’ve been really well behaved and the weather here has been great. All of which helps loads. Need a bit of sanity from painting, but my hobby space is now home office, so will have to wait for the weekends.

The middle management birdies are coming on well, good recovery on the faded tattoos line! I might have to steal that excuse!

Thanks gobert! I have the luxury of having always worked from home for2-3 days the last years, so I have a complete home office set up and the hobby desk separately. Hope you can get some hobby time in on the weekends, so the new setup and the lamps look great!

Thanks, they are definitely ready to pounce although Banshees would make mince out of them

Seeing as there is a painting comp I managed to rush my entry through and can (after nearly three years) call Cypher finished. I love that model and character and am sad, that he never is very usable in 40k. I hope he gets some Kill Team rules in WD some time or I have to make them up myself. Need to take the glamour shots with terrain tomorrow.
