I'm looking for a model to represent a Hrud in a 40k Campaign I'm playing. For the uneducated, the Hrud are a secretive race that utilise Plasma Technology. They are small and wear cloaks. I need something I can easily convert. Any ideas ????

A bit of everything really....... Titanicus, Bolt Action, Cruel Seas, Black Seas, Blood Red Skies, Kingdom Death, Relic Knights, DUST Tactics, Zombicide the lit goes on.............

Personally, I think going with something like Kid_Kyoto's conversions here would be just the ticket. He's using Skaven plague monks with Pig Iron gas mask heads, and then a "laslock" rifle.

I'm not totally sure what bitz the laslock consists of though, so I'd ask KK for more info.

You could of course use whatever weapons you want, though.

Converted Night Goblins might work too.

I also recommend Kyoto's work he's as talented as he is handsome

The laslocks are empire militia blunderbuses wiht the funnel cut off and replaced with the lip of a spare lasgun. A kroot rifle would also work.

Older multipart nightgobos would work better, since the feet are more human, but the current ones have attached heads.

I've heard the pigiron heads are backordered though, it might take time to get them, though the warstore seems to have them now.

actually, the hrud aren't really cloaked figures or small anymore. The Xenology book as a good full body shot of one walking and it is more insectoid than skavenish.

heres a shot of the head: http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g8/AGRAMAR/RS/Hrud_xenology.jpg

as for conversions, the flesh is pretty messed up so you could probably get away with some messy gs work. as for the head i can't think of any gw models that might acurattely represent it, so some sculpting might be your best bet.

That Hrud pic is wiggity wack, bro.

There was definitely a picture or two in the 3rd edition rulebook, and they looked like space Skaven (i.e. nothing like that picture).

I'm not saying you're wrong and GW hasn't retconned (they'd never do that, right?) but as far as I know most people I've talked to refer to Hrud as a Skaven-like race.

Of course, it may be that that picture is of another unit that could be in a Hrud army. I know there was at least some concept art done of them as space Skaven, besides the picture in the 3rd edition rulebook.

Heh. Weird.

Nope, he is right though. Pick up the Xenology book, it came out after the 3rd edition book did and BAM, the Hrud are in fact ziant ooz-covered trash-heaps.... literally! There is nothing skaven-like about them. I think they intentionally changed that when people started making the comparisons to skaven, which is pretty lame since the US mail order sight was selling a conversion kit that used skaven bodies and kroot arms to make them. I really really wanted to make a Hrud army as well just converting the bajillion Skaven minis I have unassembled from various trades into an army using the Eldar list, but after getting a copy of xenology they will just beturned into the proper fantasy army. Talk about dream-thieves!

Meh. Meh I say. Meh.

So now your army are the Nocturnal Warriors of the Herd. Or Rh'atts. Or the Space Skaven.

And you're done.
