Hi!

So, I'm thinking of starting a blood bowl team construction workshop at my local store.

There are some constraints involved:
1. Easy conversions - I am converting a lot of board game players. Their modeling skillz are limited.
2. Cost. Basically I was thinking that every team created should be based on one regiment box from WHFB and maybe 1-2 blisters. This will prevent a lot of people from being put off by the cost.

I figure some teams are easier than others:
Norse - Hey, it is just a box of Chaos Marauders with the weapons cut off.
Orcs - Some black orcs and a box of orcs and you are almost done.
Humans - Militia or a regiment. Some open hands are needed but this shouldn't be a problem.
Undead - Zombies and Skeletons. Easy
Dwarfs - Hard since the plastic kits are very limited when it comes to posing the models.
Skaven - Should be easy, a box of gutter runners should do.
Chaos Dwarfs - Impossible =/
Chaos - should also be easy although both beastmen and warriors is needed.
Lizardmen - have no idea...

I think thats all of them.

Do you have anything to contribute? Any good links or some conversion suggestions are welcome!

I once knocked together a great looking were team using orc bodies and wolf heads, add a few iron jaws and stuff for blitzers, marine shoulder pads - bingo!

looked good ( I used norse rules for actually playing).

I think you've missed the Amazons (don't see any cost-effective way of doing that, though) and the various flavours of Elf.

Are you making every team or are you just looking for options and ideas for when people pick their teams?

CDs aren't impossible. I used GW dwarfs for mine (I know you aren't going for official models so they'd take some converting to make your own - check out the CD forum, these dedicated CD fans are still keeping the spirit alive with normal dwarves http://www.chaos-dwarfs.com/)

I used ungors for my hobgoblins though, since I don't really like hobbos all that much. As for Bull centaurs I don't know, I love the normal BB centaur so any suggestion I made for them would feel inadequate.

To answer the question if I'm making every team: No.
The aim is to provide the workshop participants with some ideas so that they can get started quickly.

Jazz: Using normal dwarfs will work, you are correct. This might be for the more experienced modeler though.

So far I bought some black orcs since I will be making an orc team.

So far I've found some ideas here: http://www.hallofgalleries.com/index1.php
But I'm still on the hunt for more.

Heh, this is kinda a cheap idea for the Khemri mummies, but a skeleton with some thin strips of hockey/fabric tape wrapped around them might work nicely.

A box of Skinks would work well for Lizardmen I think. Either that or look for a place that sells individual sprues... 1 or 2 Saurus sprues and 2 Skink sprues and you've got a team, plus some extras for coaches, cheerleaders and whatnot.

Amazons would be a bit tougher, but if you wanted to be really creative, either the plastic Dryads or maybe the new Daemonettes when the come out? Not really Amazons per-se, but they are female and kinda amazony-ish.

If I think of any more I'll let you know.

Current games: X-Wing, Blood Bowl
