I have come across a minor problem with my batch-painting plans. To aid the speedy painting of the forty-plus greenskins I have sat on my desk, I need two batches of pre-mixed colours: Chaos Black/Boltgun Metal, and Chaos Black/Goblin Green. I have the paints, I have the mixing pots... but, silly as this may sound, I'm not sure how to transfer the paint in the right amounts between pots without spillages, or wasted paint. I was thinking about picking up some medicine syringes from the pharmacy but that's a bit of a kerfuffle and I'd probably get a lot of funny looks.

Any ideas?

Syringes are what I use.

Grab a bunch of coffee straws from the corner shop? The paint should be thin enough to transfer fairly easily just by blocking the open end with a fingertip.

I tried exactly that, Teek, but it doesn't work as well as I'd imagined. The paint sticks to the inside of the straw too much.

just go to the pharmacy and ask for a measured syringe
they're cheap, plus then you can measure your exact mix if you need to make more later
they won't even ask what its for

When I made my premixed paint, I just took the black, screwtop lids off completely. I then marked the level of paint I needed on the outside of the pot with a marker pen (eg; the 50% level and the 100% level) and then poured the paint from the source pots (also with lids removed). The mix is approximate but I just use it for highlighting anyway so it does not need to be perfect. I then screwed the lids back on when done and had no troubles.

One technique I've seen, and used in the past, is to pour down a stick or brush handle. If you introduce something like that into the stream of pouring paint, it makes it go where you want much better. Still tricky, but easier to control.

These days, I use the big chunky syringe things I got when I had my wisdom teeth torn out of my head. They're not scary heroin syringes that require explanations, they're big, all plastic things with curved, non-sharp tips. You use them to wash out the recently vacated home of your wisdom tooth. Even in my painkiller addled state, I saw the utility of these things, and managed to pick up a few.

Wash them out well when done. Wastes some paint, but not as much as spilling all over the place.

The cost on these is a mere $1500, plus your wisdom teeth.

Or, alternatively, you could probably just buy some.
