Thanks for thinking about adding fiction to dakka, a lot of us love to read it. However, barely anybody ever comments on fiction, even though each piece posted here is read an average of 200 times!

If you want more exposure for your writing, then you should add your fiction as an article as well as posting it here. Go to the 'Add an Article' page and at the 'Use This Template:' field, choose 'Fiction/Fluff'. Type in the title of your fiction in the 'Proposed Article Name' field and click 'Begin'. An empty template will be created with some basic stuff for you to fill out... Information about you (optional), Title of the story with optional chapter headers, and a section for you to add links to other stories you might have written on the web.

Adding your story as an article will get it much more exposure and will ensure that it does not drop off to the 20th page of a forum, giving it a much longer lifespan. If you need any help adding an article then feel free to ask in the Nuts and Bolts forum!

I just did this to promote my new stories and I've got no idea where the article is on Dakkadakka. It's certainly not on the home page, or any page I've visited so far?

EDIT: To clarify, it's apparently not in the Articles section either.

When you click the Articles link, it simply gives you a page full of links, which take you to yet more categories to click through. Is this seriously going to get any extra exposure at all? Who's going to wade through pages of links?

Go to Forum Index>Article Discussion and your thread is the top one. Click it and you get a post containing a link to the article itself.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

Excerpt from "Seeress of Kell", Book Five of The Malloreon series by David Eddings.
