Subject: New Demons - How Low Can the Comp Go?

So I was just wondering about demons and if I wanted to just max it all out and not care what anyone thought or said, and make an army that I thought would be pretty on the table, this is what I came up with:
2000 Points
Bloodthirster - 550
Obsidian Armor
Firestorm Blade
Gift of Re-roll all failed to hits
Herald of Tzeench - 225
Chariot of Tzeench
Master of Sorcery (know all spells from what lore I choose, probably Tz)
Scroll
Herald of Tzeench - 165
Master of Sorcery (know all spells from what lore I choose, probably Tz)
Scroll
35 Horrors - 465
Full Command, Banner of +1 to Cast
10 Bloodletters - 120
10 Bloodletters - 120
5 Furies - 60
5 Furies - 60
5 Furies - 60
5 Flesh Hounds - 175
Alternatively I could drop it down to 30 Horrors (need to kill 5 to get them down below a level 3) and take the 4th unit of Furies.
At 2250 it expands with another unit of Hounds and another Horror to get Lvl 4, another unit of Hounds and another unit of Furies.

Well, grand tournaments don't have comp, so...
I guess they COULD ding you a point here or there on
sportsmanship (would you like to play this opponent
again?), but still.

Both of the lists look very neat actually, good magic and nice offensive punch with the hounds and 'thirster and the latter owns the new vc hands down, unless the vamps can tie him up with fodder troops. I think making one of the heralds a bsb would be nice, though, as the rerolls make stuff far more durable. I also think you won't get totally dinged with comp & sports (heh, you crazy americans and your sports and comps...), as this isn't some silly 20 pd tzeentch circus.
IIRC, you may not get obs. armor and both the rerolls + flaming blade as the costs were 55+25+25. If that was the case, the cheaper normal 3+ save is allright too.

Voodoo, maybe you saw Wildcard's similar list over on the Stronghold. Almost identical, except instead of the thirster he's got Skulltaker on jugger and a second Tz herald on chariot with master of sorcery. Few less horrors too, but they've got the changeling for challenge fun. Fewer furies too, I think, but yours is 250 more points as well. Nothing scares me like the new Thirster as you've built him. But coming in #2 is the Juggertaker (Skullnought?), 0+ save, M7 and all his special rules is nuts. - Salvage

I only saw a few other lists on the DL forums, but generally this was the idea I had in my head once I found out how Horrors worked and the fact that you needed a Tzeench Herald to get Demon Dispel Scrolls.
Essentially the plan revolves around two broken concepts:
#1) Bloodthirster + MSU Furies. 3 or 4 units of 5 Furies almost guarantees me that I can deal with enemy warmachines fairly reliably, and once that's gone I can bring out the BT and just go to town. One of the best quotes I've ever heard for the DL armies is that "The Bloodthirster can win games all on his own". Heaven help those armies with little in the way of ranged attacks or magic, they will take his Flaming S7 Axe right in the face, how and where I want it to.
#2) Bring good Magic (Defense first, offense second). The fact that one of my Core Choices can be up to a level 4 Wizard taking THAT kind of a Lore is stupid. I'm still staggered that the same guy who wrote the O&G Book wrote this travesty. Tzeench used to have all the PD in the world, but a pretty crappy Lore to cast from. Now you look at Bolt of Change and then the rest of the spells and you wonder how the hell they expected this to be balanced.
Essentially I've got my two scrolls and I start out bringing 6DD to the table, with my heavy hitters bringing good MR with them.
While I realize that other GD's can do nasty stuff, nothing really equates to the Flying Terror Causer. Flying and being purely dedicated to CC, without the restriction of Frenzy just makes the BT too good to ignore. Once he hits combat he should be fine, and you've got the tools (Furies and DD) to make sure he gets to do what he does.

Why no Standard of Sundering? Its the last word in magic defense and you say you aren't concerned with sports...I'd take it over a dispel mage any day. -2 to all enemy casting is > than 2 dice, esp. vs. VC's, Ogres and the like.

All in all, fact is that Warhammer 40K has never been as balanced as it is now, and codex releases have never been as interesting as they are now (new units and vehicles and tons of new special rules/strategies each release -- not just the same old crap with a few changes in statlines and points costs).

It is a solid list. I'd keep the Heralds as he has them.
