Subject: MOW army: which caster? What 'jacks (if any)?

So I'm going to finally start that MOW army I've been planning. The core is going to be:
2x4 MOWST
1x4 MOWDC
Kovnik
That's 278off the bat. So here are my questions:
1. Who's the best 'caster for this? I'm thinking Irusk or Sorscha, but Butcher has a lot of potential here...
2. What warjack should I take? Either to be 'caster run or kovnik marshaled? I'm thinking Destroyer for the mix of close in and support fire?
3. What else should I be looking to work in? (Destroyer and Sorscha, just by way of example, gets me to 475.) A manhunter? A mortar or field gun?
Thanks in advance!

1) Hmm. Sorscha makes things easier to hit, while Butcher and Irusk makes your guys do more damage. All of them have some sort of DEF buff. I think I'd go with Irusk unless I knew I would be facing Circle or Legion. Inhospitable Ground slows your opponent down enough that your MoWs don't seem so slow. 2) I agree with your choice of Destroyer. This list has no significant ranged threats. In general, I prefer to run jacks on my casters. This one could go either way, though. 3) Adding Irusk and a Destroyer puts you at 482. I'd have liked to put a Mortar or Greylords in there, but I guess one more MoWDC is your only option here. One last thought. If you wanted to go jackless, 2 Mortars, Widowmakers, and a Manhunter would be a good replacement for the Destroyer.

IMHO I would go with either Irusk or Butcher...
My MOW list is the following:
Butcher
-Either a kodiak or devastator
Kovnik
Drakhun with Dismount
5xMoW Shocks
5xMoW Demos
that's about 480 pts give or take depending on which jack. I'd use a jack with two hands to throw the Drakhun into the enemy, since the Drakhun cannot be knocked down he suddenly has tremendous threat range!
Again just my 2 cents,
Thanks
Chappy P!
PS: I just have to paint the army above! It looks great on the table!

Hrmn. Great thoughts folks.
Well, here's a couple of ideas riffing on what y'all have said (2 Irusk and 2 Butcher lists).
Irusk
-Destroyer
Kovnik
4xMOWST
4xMOWST
5xMOWDC
498 points. 19 VP.
Butcher
-Destroyer
Kovnik
4xMOWDC
4xMOWST
4xMOWST
Mortar
498 points. 20 VP.
Butcher
Kovnik
4xMOWDC
4xMOWST
4xMOWST
Doomreavers
Widowmakers
500 pts. 19 VP.
Irusk
Kovnik
Drakun w/Dismount
4xMOWDC
4xMOWST
4xMOWST
Widowmakers
Manhunter
501/20
I'm leaning toward the first list, just because it keeps a warjack, and I don't have to buy anything new . But having the butcher run around with some doomreavers, or a Drakun supported by a manhunter and some widowmakers has some appeal, I must say....

Irusk works well. Inhospitable Ground should let you get the charge off.

MOW spam works best with Irusk. At 750, enter E.Irusk.
Amazingly, Vlad works well too - even though his feat is useless with an all MOW build.

Sounds like Irusk is my guy! I was kind of leaning that way anyway.
Gawd I'd love to work a behemoth into that list (instead of a destroyer). Maybe at 750...

That army's gonna look pretty kick-arse on the table with all those medium bases. I'd be pretty keen to see an army picture when you get them all together.

Med. bases RULE. I love my Trolls because of 'em (I have no heavy beasts, so unless I bring my pygs, it's all med. bases). Hot stuff.
