In the Codex Space Marines, it says that the dreadnought can be upgraded to venerable. Ok that I get. It also says it comes with an assault cannon. I get that as well, and it makes perfect sense. What I have a wonder over is the Space Wolves Venerable Dreadnought. It's point value is as an upgraded regular dread to venerable. but it also says that the assault cannon costs extra (in the space wolves book). the FAQ on the Space Wolves website (GW official) doesn't say anything about that. I'm confused. do I still add the 30pts it says to or is the assault cannon included? cause that's a helluva point difference if not, and almost makes it not worth getting. Can I get an official ruling on this?

YEs you have to pay for it. It may seem like a lot of points, but he has WS and BS 5, can force the dice to be rerolled for first turn.

Remember that the SW codex was written in 3rd edition way before the 4th edition marine codex was released. When in doubt, the SW codex costs, etc. still take precedence.

Do you know if they're ever gonna update the SW codex?

Another Question, sorta unrelated. How do I go about getting the Tank Hunter ability added to a unit? Is there a point Value somewhere?

The answer to your question is no different. If a unit can take TH (or any other skill), it will be listed in its entry or somewhere else in the dex (when GW is careless). If there's nothing that says it can take that skill/weapon/whatever, then it can't, period.
