Under the couch

A little job I started a while back, and just dusted off and finished yesterday...

The scabbard was a first attempt at trying a sculpted braid pattern... It was a bit of fun to figure out and execute, so I'll be looking to refine the technique a little and see what other interesting applications I can find for it.

You can find more pics in the UTC Gallery

As always, comments and criticisms welcome.

I remember when you were working on, and she looks good. Just a couple things though ... Her 'skirt' looks very plain, making her look particularly not ornate from the front. Maybe this was the idea, a more 'utilitarian' autarch? Or was the intent to have the painter embellish with freehand on all that expanse of empty cloth?

The other thing, the scabard looks very nice with the braid patter, but is it on the correct hip? She's holding the sword that belongs to it in her left hand as well, making drawing / sheathing a bit difficult I'd think. Additionally, there's a lot going on in that little space on the left - sword, shimmershield, scabard. I'm not 100% on it looking better on the right hip either, but it is a nice scabard so I wouldn't say leave it off entirely ...

Looks great. Where did you get the sword?

I agree with Boss_Salvage about the scabbard: it should go on the right hip.

Yup. I like the idea of the Autarch being relatively plain, to contrast against the usual overly-blinged Farseer.

It's on the left because that's the side it looked 'right' on.

And I would imagine she would actually use the sword with the other hand... While GW may think that running into battle weilding a sword and a rifle at the same time is fine, I tend to think that she would be using both hands on the fusion gun when she's actually firing it, and in combat would simply drop it and draw the sword. The left hand pose is just for while she's at the back pointing in a suitably heroic fashion at the approaching horde. ("Go hither, my pointy minions!")

And yes, it's a Wood Elf sword
