I don't know how likely I am to build this army, but I got some phoenix guard super cheap, that I am thinking of converting slightly to work as White Lions.

So there is a giant block of 40 white lions that is immune to fear and terror, moves through woods, has Magic resist 3, -1 to hit against ranged attacks and those that do hit go against 2+ armor. Oh yeah, and they're stubborn with a static combat res of 6+D6 if they outnumber. About the only thing it lacks is a Ward save. But honestly, even if they get charged, the white lions are I5, and all of the characters are atleast 7+, two of which have great weapons. They will probably clear out the front rank of whatever charges them.

In addition, there are two fairly sized units of Spearmen nearby, with Reavers baiting charges or running harassment. I'm not exactly sure what purpose the Silver Helms will serve yet. I was thinking of maybe dropping them in favor of more Spearmen or Reavers (and giving them bows), but I'm not sure... I like the idea of a cav unit that can move quickly and still hit fairly hard.

Thoughts?

i would not usee that many white lions because you will get flanked and if that dies you have very little left, if you want an uber unit like that make them calvalry like a huge unit os dragon princes, 2 attacks each strengh 5 on the charge very good armour.... all you have to do is give your characters horses and your all set

by the way... you can't have caladrian in white lions and your bsb can't have a great weapon.

Where does it say Caradryan can't join White Lions? I see it nowhere in his rules or the White Lions rules.

Is the BSB not allowed to take weapons because of a rule in the main rule book, or because of a rule in the HE book?

A high elf BSB can take anything. there are no restictions on their equipment like other races.

Well the white lions seem to be fairly protected by the looks of things but there's a problem. They only move 10" a turn. Why is this a problem? Because you only have 2 units that the enemy needs to worry about, and you have nothing in the army that will make the enemy need to come towards you. This means the enemy can focus his entire army on your silver helm unit, knowing that he's going to have 2 turns of magic and shooting to take out your white lions before they hit..... Or.... he can be smart, take out your silver helms and reavers, and stay out of charge range of your white lions the entire game, feeding them small units to slow them down..... that's the problem with having one big hero hammer unit.... they're avoidable.
