Hi there.

Quick question on modelling some black knights.

I don't particularly want to spend all that money on black knights, especially when they look like terd.
I was going to get me some tomb kings knights and model them appropriately, ie vampire counts heads/ shields and bits and pieces.

Would this be okay to use in general gaming as well as tournaments?
I don't really see a problem with it, but am curious to see what you guys think.

I'm fine with that...but then again, I'm miles away from where you probably play. Most people use other cav for Black Knights anyway.

I've always thought you could buy a box of grave guard and combine it with the tomb king skeleton horsemen and make some awesome black knights.

I mixed skellie pieces and Blood Dragon metal shields into Brettonians for my Black Knights...

There is an attitude that not having an insanely optimized, one shot, six stage, omnidirectional, inevitable, mousetrap of an assassin list army somehow means that you have foolishly wasted your life building 500 points of pure, 24 karat, hand rolled, fine, cuban fail. That attitude has been shown, under laboratory conditions, to cause cancer of the fun gland.

Thanks for all your replies.

Do the brets come up fairly well?

I was thinking possibly silver helms even. I am modelling my lord off the mounted high elf prince as I don't like the Mannfred model.

I was going for the tomb kings knights just because theyre already skelys, although the modelling possiblities of silver helms or bretonnians would look pretty cool in my opinion.

It would be a bit of fun to make my undead based on a high elf army though. My latest conversion is of the winged vampire with a dark elf head to make him look less beastial.

I have alot of bits from my high elf army, and could easily use them them on my undead. Although I don't have any spare shields to use for my skelys and already made 70 zombies, so this limits it a bit.

This will give me some things to think about anyway

On Warseer I saw someone who used the TK legs, lances, and horses but Grave Guard torsos, arms, and heads and it looked great. Plus, combining both was cheaper than buying the $10 per model craptacular Black Knights.

Agreed. Went the Bretonian way and it looks very nice. Way cheaper and very easy conversion (if not only a different paintjob)

P.S. And yes, I would be ok with it!

I bought a box of empire knights and used the extra heads and shields from a box of graveguard and a box of skeletons. I ended up with 10 grave guard, 10 skeletons, and 8 really nice looking plastic black knights

Went digging through my old posts, and guess what? I've been hating on mat ward since before it was cool
