I am new to 40k, I have been playing WHFB for awhile now and would like to chnage pace. I came up with this army list recently and would like to knoe if it will stand up to what all is out there waiting for me.

That's not a bad start, two things I'd suggest: 1) take off the big shoota/ skorcha from the warboss and give him an attack squig, that extra strength 10 PK attack is worth it's weight in gold. Second, the looted wagon will die very quickly. Can you get points from eleswhere to make it a battlewagon? I probably just wouldn't bother with it, it's very expensive and pretty weak. Stormboys would be a wise investment with the points. Good luck with it!

also. could i replace any or all of the Lootas with Burna Boys? im not sure how they stack up. i loves me some flame throwers and a unit of fifteen would just look awesome, but would it work?

Not without transportation.

Lootas are way better than Burnas, no question about it. A unit of Power-Weapon'd Orks is nice, but Lootas are much better - what with their 48" S 7 AP 4 Heavy d3 guns... They're one of your only sources of long-range support.

Also - if you can afford it, a Shokk Attack Gun is loads of fun in an army, even if they sometimes bite you in the ass. Once you roll those glorious double 6s, you'll never want to be without it again!

lootas are seem like they're very good. i just wonder if burnas might be more effective against an army like the tyranids.

I reiterate, you'll need a transport if you want to do that. Lootas can sit in cover far away from the enemy. Burnas don't have that luxury. Footslog them and they will die before firing a shot.

whatever you do, don't add burnas, i myself love the models and the whole PW or Burna thing, but they are too expensive and too fragile, plus they cannot be given a trukk

Why wouldn't they be able to? You can't give it to them as a dedicated transport, but if you took a BW in a Heavy Support slot, there'd be nothing stopping you from putting the Burnas in it.

would that be worth it tho? lootas seem better than burnas? would burnas and a battle wagon be worth replacing the lootas?

If i was you I would add remove some regular boyz and add some Nob Bikers for that extra fast butt kicking they provide!

The 10 stormboyz without a power klaw seems like a waste. With your list I would drop them and get more lootas. Or drop the lootas and take 20 stormboyz with a power klaw.

Also putting your warboss on a bike is always a good option. I've had him slaughter his way through multiple space wolves squads on his own. When things can only wound you on a 6 you are really tough. It also allows you to turbo boost and attack isolated units while your giant hordes tie up anything that the other guy lets get in your way.

Make sure when you build your guys you put the rokkit or big shootas on the Nob in your boyz squad. The 4+ save and 2 wounds will keep that weapon alive a lot longer.
