Now Black Orcs seem like they're pretty good. what with being able to switch weapons every turn and whatnot.

would it be a good/realistic idea to build an army around four or five (depending on the size of the army) units of twenty to twenty-five? or would it be more sane to just take a few and have 'em get stuck in wif da boyz?

Taking that many would ensure you have nothing else in the army.

The most common set up I see is a unit of 15 with full command and magic banner in support of 2-3 large (25 model) orc boys units.

well in a 2000 pts army you could take four units of twenty (with full command) for 298 pts each for a total of 1198 pts.

you could take three units of ten 'arrer boyz for ninty points each for a total of 270 pts. take like 600 pts for generals and a shaman maybe, then throw in a giant or some trolls.

the real question is: are Black Orcs good enough to build the army like that? eighty Black Orcs sounds pretty scary to me.

yeh but whats gonna happen when those blacl orc units get hit in the flank by bretonian knight or empire knight or any other hard hitting cav

i dunno. ive never used them before. bust out the GW? and what's to say that those couldnt be reduced by magic or some arrow fire. you may just be having and unlucky day and loose a few to that. not always best to bet on luck... one could also gaurd a flank with a smaller unit of trolls or something.
