That's the way to build 'em.

Don't take warriors with ranged weapons ever they all should have ST+ RC and give them leaping. They also don't need TS because you're looking for rends here.

Good start but I find that 6 doesn't really hit hard enough I use squads of 8. You also need to put EC on them, they are way too expensive to die to bolter fire. I also put scuttlers on mine.

I would combine these into one unit of 8 if you really want a tarpit unit.

Without number is totally useless, your gaunts get to start on your side of the board and....do absolutely nothing. Just remove these and get more stealers.

Psychic scream isn't really helpful but these could be useful in 5th for anti-armor.

I would take VC/ BS, I think it'll be more effective.

You don't need fast synapse and these guys are too expensive to have a 5+ save, drop them and get another HT or something.

"But remember that there are over 1000 chapters of spase marienz! So the SM codex has to cover over 1000 different kinds of spase marienz! Codex CSM only has to cover 1 kind (the Chaos kind). And I don't even think Eldar are a kind of spase marienz at all. Hurr!"

It's a company which specialises in the selling of plastic representations of Elves, Goblins, and 9 foot tall superhuman soldiers from the future - have you ever considered that, as adults, it is US that is intruding upon THEIR world?

Start from the top:
Of course I expected no disagreement with the Tyrant. I have used it a handful of times and I am blown away each time about how staggering the effectiveness of this unit is. It is CRAZY!!!
As for the warriors. I am looking for a bit of a shooty aspect. The devourers pump out a decent amount of shots and I am have always been a sucker for deathspitters. Lots of people in my LGS do not space out their models and I like to make them pay for it. In 5th edition, the scatter will be helpful.
As for the stealers, I understand what you are saying. I could pump them up in numbers and give them extended carapace to handle bolter fire. I find six is pretty easy to hide and I don't advance them with the front ranks. I keep them ready for a counter assault and for a deepstrike deterrant. I like them hitting a unit that is either already locked, and thus makes them very hard to fire at most of the time OR as said before, hitting units that drop in from the back. For such a cheap amount of points, they make an excellent rear guard. CC oriented armies tend to push the envelope and try to advance quickly. I try and keep my stealers as second wave and make them regret their advance.
Rippers. I agree that one bigger unit would be a much better tarpit then two smaller units. But, since they are two units, the are two different targets to fire at. I would put more swarms in (in place of the termagaunts) if I had the models to do so. I also gave them the toxin sacs to make them more reliable in dishing out wounds. I don't need them to win the combat, but it sure is nice when they do something while in it and dying.
Termagaunts. I am not sold on them either. I figured that they start at my board edge, and then flee TOWARD the nearest synapse creature. They are small enough that they can easily be ignored as insignificant, but they are scoring units that can hold objectives. Always nice to have scoring units available.
Carnifexes: I have used the Sniper-Fex and they are okay. I just find that the TL-Devourer at S6 is so great that it is hard to not have them on the board.
Zoanthropes. I have to COMPLETELY disagree about psychic scream being not helpful. Making LD 10 models take a test at 7 is fantastic. This does not even account for all the other modifiers that come into play. I have used a small choir before and it was SUPER effective. Against an ork army it was flat out mean. Unless they had a gaggle of boyz, they were running any time they had to make a test. I made marines run with their commander on the board multiple times. The psychic choir is not a thing to take lightly.
Winged Warriors: I agree they are a point sink, but they are so small and I can normally hide them pretty well. I have had success with them so far and so I plan on continuing them, but I completely agree with your reservations.
