Looking at 5th edition rules I have been thinking of coming up with a decent army for all comers. I played ulthwe for a good long time back in 3rd ed and figured that I would like to do so again. With only troops being able to score it kind of makes sense to me to do ulthwe seeing as thats what they like to use. I tried to make a decent (if a bit fluffy) army that should be able to handle all comers. It has a decent amount of firepower for both anti tank and anti infantry. It is a bit close combat light but I am hoping the firepower might be able to take enemy squads down to manageable levels before they reach combat. Between jetbikes, vypers, and infiltrating scorpions I have a decent number of fast movers. I also have no huge point sink units so basically all of the support units are expendable supporting the scoring troop core. I like the look of the army and it not too much different from what I fielded back in the day. (pretty much this with 2 wraithlords, 1 prism and the council, with the rest trimmed down for 1500). Please C&C.

Honest opinion? It's pretty awful.

The bikeseer needs Runes of Warding. Also, he has no use for the Singing Spear, since he has two "instead of shooting" powers.

You need an Avatar.

Storm Guardians are useless (or rather have very specialised uses which you aren't getting in this list). They should all be Defenders. Also, Warlocks in Guardian squads are generally a waste of points. Those three Concealocks more than pay for a whole new Guardians squad. That's better than a cover save you could get from terrain anyway. I would suggest EMLs in all the squads so you can threaten armour (your army is lacking in that respect). The plasma missile can be fairly useful, too, and gets better in 5th.

It makes sense to give the Scorps Stalker. It's only 5 points and you will often have reason to use it.

That configuration of Vyper will be awful in 5th if defensive weapons really are S4. I would drop the additional shuriken cannons.

D-cannons suck. Against SAFH armies, they'll never get to fire, since the enemy won't be coming near you. Against assault armies, which will be coming near you, their low range means they'll probably get one chance to shoot and that's it. V-cannons are a better idea--the only problem is the glancing nerf. Honestly, the best thing to do would probably be to use these points for an Avatar.

The WL is poorly configured. Twin-linking sucks as you're paying for the cost of two weapons but only getting 1.3 weapons worth of utility. Take a BL and EML instead. Even if the MC nerf rumour is true, it'll still be worthwhile; the WL doesn't really need to move anyway. Lastly, you'll never have reason to use those shuricats. Get twin flamers instead. It's likely that you'll rarely get to flame anything, but if the situation arises, you'll be glad you have them.

Good luck with your army.

I agree with T. Cromis, this army is bad.
Its hard to say whether all 5th ed rumours are true or not;
e.g., if jetbikes are scoring units.

At a larger pt level, you could afford a fluffy Farseer with Warlock retinue on jetbikes.
Guardians are not resilient enough.
As T. Cromis said, if you want to keep them add an Avatar so that they can walk in his fearless bubble.
But then Eldrad is the best choice to fortune the Avatar.
