Horrific Horror

I've decided to put together another army over the next few weeks and I can't decide between the two with 5th edition coming out soonish. The fluff, convertability, and my atrocious painting skills have narrowed it down to one of these two armies.

Now, which is going to be more competitive than the other come 5e? Relatively the same? Blowout in favor of the Orks? Any thoughts/suggestions will be much appreciated!

If that upsets your fluff stomach, buy a case of "it's just a game"-bizmo and get over it.

You probably just want to wait till the Dark Eldar codex comes out before you start them. Therefore, start an Ork force and then in a year you can start Dark Eldar.

I say play DE, they have real AT guns and wyches would slag boys in CC everytime.

Plus the warp portal builds are better than the speed freaks builds.

5th ed. Orks are absolutely turd. 3rd edition orks were amazing, read some of forums where peopla are talking about how they dnt like new orks. Dark eldar models are unjustly expensive now because they are quite old. So if your getting them check out giftsforgeeks.com

ALSO forgot to say, wyche cult armies are unreal. Check out the codex for exactly how.

Hellion are unreal aswell, especially with Goblet of Spite, always hitting on a 3+ in hand to hand combat.

I dunno about you, but I won't so much as look at DE until their new codex comes out.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

I fully fall to see how orks are absoloute turd in 5th. Running , combat counter attacks and new cover rules all benefit orks greatly. Boys are more effective per point than they used to be and assault 2 shootas are awesome. Any way you can back up that claim?

Opinions are like arseholes. Everyone's got one and they all stink.

Those assault 2 shootas won't be of much use in the hands of a BS 2 infantry.

A common misconception about orks. The sheer volume of fire orks can put out means they can do a significant amount of damage with shooting, and still remain fearsome combat troops.

I beleive you are forgetting the fact that you have 30 something shots at BS 2. Thats still a lot of shots. (in fact it equals out about the same as a BS 3 Assault 1 unit, the math is pretty close)

Orks are golden with their new Codex in 5th. If the Ork army I want to make didn't require nearly two hundred figs coming in at over $300, I'd probably use this as my next army.

Go Orks. They are wierd and goofy funny, like high school jocks.

Dark Eldar like skinny, mopey goth kids. Just say no.

Personally, I'm trying to decide between Green Tide Orks or Mechanized Tau. I want to play Orks, but I highly doubt I'd ever get the 200ish guys all painted.

They're Orks, not Eldar. You can get way with a crappy paint job and it's fine.
