I already posted my first couple of cultists in their own posts, I now I have 40 plague monks and 24 genestealers to start bashing together into my cult (who will count as 'nids).

And while I was happy with the gasmask cultists I'm not too sure about this wave of hybrids.

basically I figured spare genestealer heads on plague monk bodies, mix knives and claws and Bob's your uncle.

Problem 1 is that the genestealer box didn't yield as many spare heads as I expected and BW bitz doesn't sell individual genestealer or gaunt heads. So I'll need to use something else. And the bitz don't just match up as much as I would like.

Anyway take a look, I'll take suggestions.

Nice looking stuff. Where is that banner from? I am thinking about using banners for Icons on my chaos marines and that would be perfect for Plaguemarines.

The banner is a skaven banner.

I love the gasmask guys. I have already stolen this idea from you. I did a test mini with an old leftover pigiron head and a skaven body. They just look great as cultists or mutants etc. Looke great so far Kyoto.

I actually quite like the first little guys, monks with stealer heads. Humorously chibi, yet evilly small

Luck with the project, the kitbash nature suits you well.

In your first post, the only one I liked at all was the one with the cut down stealer head.

The ones in the first pic, with the Plague Monk bodies and 'Stealer heads suffer rom Bobble-Head syndrome. Those heads aregreater than human sized, but the monks are smaller than human sized. The result is a freakishly large head for the bodies.

Personally, I don't care for the plague monk bodies as hybrids at all. Hybrids are supposed to be part human and part 'Stealer (basically). Since 'stealers are so much bigger than humans, the hybrid should be bigger, too. The problem with that is that there really isn't anything suitable. About the best you could do is Catachans... and they look so.. Well... Catachan.

Staying within the framework you've set ('Stealer heads and plague monk bodies), cutting the head is the best way to go, by far.

I think you should cut down the genestealer arms, too. They look too big on the bodies, as well. Just snip a small section out of the upper & lower arms, plastic-glue them back together & file the join to match.

Please. I beg of you. Don't ever use that Chaos arm as a head for a Genestealer Hybrid again.

As for the need for more 'Stealer heads... Have you tried the trade forum here, or Bartertown? There are always going to be Nid players and they'll always have extra genestealer parts. I see Tyranid ads on bartertown all the time.

As for your Broodlord/Patriarch model... Why not use an old school Patriarch?

Very good points and they echo my own feelings. Like I said I'm just not feeling the love of the hybrid units that I felt with my cultists. Two options I can see are old chaos warriors (I still have a few bodies) and orks. I'll give orks a shot since the chaos warriors are too well armored for repping hormagaunts. Even if it doesn't work the cut down head looks OK. Angry bald heads might also work, especially with claws, hybrids are a bit random in their traits.

I think you should cut down the genestealer arms, too. They look too big on the bodies, as well. Just snip a small section out of the upper & lower arms, plastic-glue them back together & file the join to match.

I did cut them a bit but left them long, I like the freakish proportions and the idea that these monster claws sprout out of rags.

Please. I beg of you. Don't ever use that Chaos arm as a head for a Genestealer Hybrid again.

Oh OK. Just because you asked nicely.

I tried here but with no luck. I'll give barter town a try.

There are 2 old school partiarchs. The running one is a bit cartoonish and the seated one is hard to find. I may try the running one's head on a broodlord.

Feel free as I swipped the idea myself. It's a Plasticville City Hall (Model railroad O scale) I got the idea from Combat Zone Chronicles 'for the table' section.

Great site, check it out.

tkdarktrooper wrote:you gonna do some scratch limos?

The problem is I'm using the 'nid codex so limos don't really fit. Yeah I could call them carnifexes or something but it's a stretch and in a 'counts as' army I need to have more clarity, not less. I do have a nice 1/48 scale german staff car and I'll have the broodlord smashing his way out of it.

Wow - the the original Patriarch and Magus and Inquisitor Kuroda to boot. That was a score! Those hybrids look kinda...uh...resin-y. Or is that just paint?

if your going for a high hybrid count in the army it might be worth concidering converting the new VC ghouls, they are the right sort of shape, just need a few stealer claws and a few head swaps and they will look great, if your not convinced once my ghouls turn up ill post a few pics for you.

Yeah those Ghouls could be alright for hybrids alright.
I like the monks for cultists, not as much for the hybrids but it's still a good idea.

along with my post earlier, for normal weapon arms all goblin arms should fit 100% and look right, perfect if you want them with guns, steel pipes, knives ect,
or, you could even use fleshborers and use GS to make them "part of the hybrid", then they can be used as gaunts if you wish.

In that shot of the Magus & Patriarch, why is the Magus holding his nose? Did the Patriarch crack off an evil genestealer fart?

IIRC, he's supposed to have the outstretched arm on the throne's arm rest and he's whispering to the patriarch, which is why the Patriarch is leaning the way he is.
