Well, this is the weekend of KublaCon in the bay area( Burglingame at the hyatt) , Just wondering if there any 40k, fanasty and flames of war players heading down this weekend?

yup im heading in on saturday and sunday. sat for the flea market and sunday for the tourny. im takin my warhammer 40k ork kult of speed list

You should definitely look into the Pacificon game expo in Santa Clara on Labor day weekend. It's gonna be where all the cool people go.

Besides the Iron masters tourney series is held at PC and Doc runs the best tournaments I have ever been to.

Well, how did Kublacon go? I want details.

I thought about it, but it seems that it cost $30 per day just to go and look. Not about to spend $90 so that my kids and i can look around.

I heard that the 40K event was a single day RTT not a 2 day tourney like in the past.

40k was on a Sunday! And it was as you heard, a 3 round 1 day event.

Blackmoor might lecture me, but nikeforever22 and I did not bring out tier 1 armies out (aka the eldar twins). I brought my O'Shovah led tau, while my friend valiently championed the lost cause of the dark angels. greynite1 brought his camo/catachan IG out of semi-retirement as did becker with his black armored fist IG (whatever you call the all mounted in chimeras army).

I continued my tradition of being stuck playing against the banned/unbanned/oops forgot to ban Armored Company army. The year before last I singing speared an AC to the tune of 4 leman russes dead on the bottom of turn 1. This year, with not a single rail gun scoring a kill on a tank, I crushed 8 of 9 russes by turn 6, and I lost the roll to go first again. I wish I had recorded the score for my 3rd round battle correctly, we put it as a major victory instead of a massacre, well anyhow, it was good enough to obtain best general, a first for me in such a large tourny.

Ananda Sisk, had an awesome nurgle demon army. And I saw a pretty lava themed demon hunters army. I really didn't see many over the top armies this year, overall it looked like good clean fun.

There is a lot of that going around. Every once in a while I show up at an RTT and an armored company will be there. Most of the time even if they said they were not allowed, they do not want any bad feelings, so they let them in.

Ananda is a very good painter, so I hope she brings her army to the LVGT.

The overall went to Steve Sisk and his Ultramarine force. He edged out Ananda's Epi-Nurgle by 1 point.

Sorry to disappoint Blackmoor...I always crumble under pressure.

I have seen Steve's Ultramarines and they are amazingly average in construction. I am amazed that he has done so well with a non-optimized list.

I really wish I had gone. I would have loved to play against the competition up there.

I have feelings.

I get very sad when I see 9 leman russes bristling with 15 heavy bolters, 1 vanquisher cannon, 6 battle cannons, 4 plasma cannons, 2 demolisher cannons and oh yeah... 4 lascannons too.

Do you know how hard it is to kill them all with no hammerheads and with no railguns?

Do you know how happy I get when I win?

Do you know how much I get tanked in sportsmanship to AC players?

I just played against an AC today in my store league with my footslogging Eldar. Brutal! My opponent also took some doctrine that allowed him to reroll scatter.

Next year...come on up. That way you can take the Best General award away from Sazzlefrats.

The only award I shoot for is overall. My painting will not measure up to Ananda's but I think I can keep up with their play level.

What was their "comp" system at Kublacon?

The "comp" was the Standard GW RT comp sheet where one rates his/her list and then the judges rate 10 questions dealing with army list, min-max, painting, etc.

The organizers also posted tourney guidelines on their yahoo group, which I could forward to you. This is information beyond the standard comp sheet.
