This will probably be a very slowly updated blog.

But I'm building a Plague Tower of Nurgle.
http://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_CustomProductCatalog/m1180078_Chaos_Space_Marines_Datasheet_-_Plague_of_Zombies.pdf

I'm not planning on doing the standard two faces with the demolisher cannons, as I don't think that translates well to 40k from epic.

My plan is to make it look like rusted steel, and have that patched up with random plates, boards, nurglings, etc. The centerpiece on the front will be a nurgle symbol ( ) with the lower two circles being hemisphere mounts for the two demolisher cannons, and the upper circle being an all-seeing chaos eye, bloated with rot and corruption.

I see the tower as being studded with windows which will act as it's fire points, and with gates on the lower levels acting as it's assault ports. I'm debating traditional gates or bio-organic/sporing/blistering assault ports. Considering that I plan to put merlons on the top, I'm thinking that traditional gates are more in keeping with the theme.

Bells have been bought to add to the model as well, though I am debating their use, as they are a bit small.

Well, onto the pictures, what you're really here for.

This is what I started out with:

I plan on adding a wood grain texture to the side of the wheels, and would like advice on how to do that.

Here's a facing shot of the pus cannon, which I bought at a dollar store. It was a plastic tower that held a cheap plastic knight toy. I cut the top off and added some aluminum grating to it.

The basic shapes of the tower portion.

The back will have a rear command deck portion, so I can place models there to remember what's inside it.

Yeah but I was never happy with it. While it was plaguey and towerish it wasn't a proper plague tower.

I have a plan to tear it apart and build anew.

Wow! This is looking great! You seem to have hit the dimensions just right... which is, IMO, the hardest thing to do. Keep us updated!

Who was it on DAkka that had that great DG army? Ryan somebody? He was featured in a white dwarf. His defiler had a ridiculolusly large cannon that, even though being ridiculously large, was perfect. The cannon on the tower reminds me of that.

excellent work so far, nurgle icon cannons idea looks promising. It would look cool if near the top on the front you had a balcony with a pulpit on it and a priest of nurgle shouting infested litanies into a loudspeaker system as the tower rolled to battle.

perhaps with a bit of engineering you could incorporate speakers and an mp3 player loaded with chaotic sounding tracks/speeches/demonic noises from the darkness of the warp like jamsessionein did on his squiggoth lol.

gonna keep monitoring this thread lol, nurgle has always been my favoured of the chaos gods.

Not really. I've hit a wall with regards to the cannon mounts.

They look too much like breasts:

Hmm.. You're right, it has breasts with another cannon coming out the bottom. Nothing beats Transexual war machines!

You could try making tentacles wrapping around the barrel of the gun, that would remove that interpretation.
