Curses...

Due to Azmodai`s incredible display of initiative with the "Norwegian Wahound" thread I now need to get myself into gear. We`re having an Apocalypse game soon and I won`t show up if I ain`t got some super heavies of my own. So I building a stompa! Or rather two in fact, my goal is to be able to switch between a Stompa and a Big Mek Stompa with some magnets and such [insert snigger]

Anyhoo..

Here`s what I`ve got so far:
Main hull/body

Hip

The scale on the main hull is:
- Height: 15 cm
- Width: 18 cm
- Depth: 9 cm

I remind you that this is just the main hull and it will get a lot more bulky as I progress.

more to come..

Some small progress made. I`ve now attached the flooring of the main body. The body and hip is not glued together, the body can rotate around it`s own axis. Main reason for this is 1: transport/stoorage and 2: cool poses

Not quite sure what I`ll start next, kinda tempted on starting on the arms instead of the head. Any thoughts on this?

Started on the legs instead of the arms or head. Glad I did as it`s a rather
defining feature on it and will make the scaling of the arms and head a lot easier.

For those who`s seen it I`ve looted insaniaks` way of making the feet.

Done with the main build of the right foot. I think I`ll do the detailing on the lower body now as I ponder on how I wanna do the arms and head.

I`m keeping the theme in line with the rest of my scratchbuilds. Quite pleased with how things are shaping up so far.

Hello all!

Some quick copy & paste from my plogs on other forums regarding my current and largest ever project.

I`m currently working on the first arm, hopefully Ì`ll have an update later this evening.

C&C if ya feel like giving some.

Another day, another update!

This time it`s the arm, this`ll be the right arm on the stompa:

So it`s a twin-linked big shoota on top, then it`s a supa-skorcha (will get fueldrum as "ammo-feed") and finally a titan close combat weapon. It`s none other than Ein`s stompa that`s been my inspiration for this arm, but I looted the skorcha idea from elotsip`s chaos militia plog.

C&C please

Update:
(Apologies in advance for crappy pics. I had to sharpen the images so that you could see the details.)

Done some more detailing on it, added a fueldrum that will serve as the ammofeed for the supa-skorcha.

On top you have a Lemmingspawn inspired Supa-Gatler, underneath a 92acclude inspired Deth-Kannon. Still need to add the ammofeed for the kannon.

So with this done, both arms fairly the same size I can make the last part on both arms so that I can get them attached to the body.

C&C please

Finally something to show...

As you can see I`ve changed the main body quite a lot. I narrowed it at the waist and I think it did the trick. The line I`ve drawn on the body will be the lower part of the jawline.

Other than that I`ve added the two big shootas as well as the mounts for the three supa-rokkits. In lack of superglue I can`t fix the magnets to the supa-rokkits and arms but I`ll get that done tomorrow.

Tomorrow I`ll focus on the head and arms with pads.

C&C please.

He's looking like a giant mechanical Ork Boy so far. A different look for sure. It could come out very nicely ^_^.

How much more armoring of the legs are you planning?

Yeah that was exactly my aim

Oh I`ll do more on the legs so don`t worry there, I`m just doing the main stuff now. The detailing will be for last. So at this pace next weekend perhaps?

So with some superglue I`ve been able to attach the arms.

Also attached the supa-rokkits with magnets so I can remove them as I play. Really happy with it so far, I`ll be starting on the head now so if all goes well I can show off an early WiP of that later this evening.

not sure about those upper arms, they make the weapons _very_ close to the ground - personally I'd make them a lot shorter or remove them entirely. And the feet look a little small for my taste, I'd widen them with steel 'reinforced soles'. Otherwise looks great, I must get my own stompa finished.

Well I thought about the same but I like them this way. Makes them look a lot more usable as the operator won`t have to move the body to aim at a target just the arms. The length also keeps the orkish shape of the stompa intact. Yes the arms are longer than on an ork but that`s due to the weapons themselves.

He`ll be getting some soles yeah, I need to get a bit more weight there so that he balances better. A tad top heavy at the moment.

Cheers for the comments!

Well it`s been a bit of a rush lately so I haven`t been able to do as much as I`d like on the stompa. What I have done is mock up the head as well as doing a bit on the riveting side. I`d like to remind you all that this is merely the rough build and I still need to do a lot of detailing and such. I`ve just done things this way so that I could field it in the Apocalypse game we`re playing today.

This pic is taken from my set-up for the battle. We did all of that yesterday so that we could get as many hours gaming as we could. I think it was quite smart as we used approx 2 hours getting it all rigged up. Since we`re all parents that`s valuable gaming time saved, also we get a day planning before the battle which is nice.

C&C please

Very cool, look's like a 1950's robot. It could use some more bulk around the shoulders though, some hoses, hydraulics, etc.

The upper arms look a tad too long, but otherwise, I'm very impressed. At first I wasn't sure about the feet, but that changed when I saw all those ribbets and extra plates.

@NO_SUCH_LUCK:
Yeah that`s the plan, shoulder pads, hydraulics and cables.

@Anung Un Rama:
Well it`s all a matter of opinion really, and since mine counts the most they`re staying that way :lol
(hope ya take the pun as it`s wasn`t meant as anything else)
My aim with this one was to make a large metallic orc, but messing with the scale of things. Hence the small and thin legs, big bulky body and arms that are to long compared to the rest. Orky imo at least

My stompa performed admirably in it`s first battle yesterday. Great fun to use, it accounted for quite a lot out there. In sum I think it was; 5 devastators, 14 tactical marines, 4 assault marines and 2 void shields on the warhound in two rounds of shooting. Not shabby at all imo!

Managed to get the head more or less done. Also made viewing slits for the supa rokkits and big shootas. Oh and I made some vents or whatever it`s called.

Yeah I`ve been thinking about adding some krew, problem is I just don`t see per now where I could put them since the stompa has a very armoured look.

Finally started properly on the arms:

Cabled up all of the primary weapons as well as the arm itself, made a hose from the fuel barrel to the skorcha, a little hatch for re-supplying the TL big shootas with ammo (top pic), hydraulics and more rivets than I`d care to count.

Still need to do something with the shoulder-pads and chip the arm some so that it actually looks like it`s been used.

C&C please.
