hey all, Like most Dakkites I have far too many half finished/barely started piles of metal and plastic. After my success of my Reaver log I figured the best way to inspire me onwards and upwards would be to log my next army building/painting attempt.

As you can probably guess from the title that means those curliest of beards, the chaos dwarfs.

I mentioned in a previous thread how I was fortunate enough to be given some "big hats" by an old friend. I came close to flogging these last month but couldnt bring myself too, it wouldnt have shown much gratitude so i sold off some warmaster minis instead.

I have been buying minis to go along with what I have and am starting to approach something that looks like an army so figured I'd start the log.

I'll add the first pics later on as I'm going to try some test minis tonight. What sorta schemes do people think are best and what sorta units should I include? Any cool ideas for conversions will be great too as CD's are tricky to get hold of and can often cost a pretty penny on ebay.

Firstly I painted the plastic warriors, these really are naff sculpts, luckily I only have 4 as unit fillers, hopefully I will be able to avoid any more.



now that they are outta the way I can start on the better minis, heres my first bull centaur (sorry my camera really hasnt made a good job of these).



Finally I did a hero, this is the same fig that was voted 3rd in the best wfb poll on GWs website.



more to come, shields also still to paint, gotta try and sort some hobgobs too.

because of my inability to handle booze killed yesterdays painting session I have but a bit of effort in today and have some more done. again my camera kinda kills it.

I really thought they died out what a nice surprise.

They look good, though I can't help thinking the dwarfs need something bright to contrast. Like a yellow icon on the shields, or white perhaps. But I think yellow, isn't that part of their official color scheme?

Nice black orc too, nice contrast to have the green blorcs in with the red cdwarfs.

Wow, there's some models I haven't seen in close to 10 years! One of my original Warhammer buddies played Chaos Dwarves, so my High Elves got very used to fighting them. Thanks for giving me a nice nostalgic moment

I love the Chaos Dwarf line. I really hope GW brings them back soon(ish). And maintains that Tigris/Euphrates feel.

I painted up another bull centaurs, some warriors and the taurus over the last few nights, will post some pics when I get home.

Yeah it was part nostalgia that got me to do these, that and theres something about rarer minis that gets me frothing.

Unfortunately some unscrupulous ebayers have caught on to this and are buying up every CD auction and relisting at crazy prices (I'm looking at you theessexgirl! ).

I have come to an arrangement with a nice fella on bartertown though for more warriors, a couple of deathrockets and some hobgobs, I'll get a CD army yet!

....wonder how my local GW will feel if i turn up for a game with these fellas?

And, aren't Chaos Dwarfs still "legal" via Ravening Hordes or some such?

yeah Ravening Hordes was their 6th ed rules and 7th say that 6th ed rules are valid till replaced.

Its not a bad little list actually (tho abusable with 2pt hobgoblins).

Nice work Sleazy, eevil stunties and their green friends are coming along nicely. Characters are particularly nice, though I do like them orcs.

I havent gone as far as working out points values yet but am going for

2 units of 15 blunderbuss
20 warriors
6 bull centaurs
10 hobgob archers
2 deathrockets & 1 earthshaker
10 hobgob wolfriders
20 orc boyz
20 black orcs

then I have an assortment of heros to choose from, and a sorceror.

Finally I have a lord on taurus and a Sorceror lord on lammasu so I'll decide for each game who leads them out.

I reckon thats probably 2000 pts. Am still on the look out for more blunderbusses as I need another 8 for that list.

for those who want to reminise on the Chaos Dwarfs of all editions, pop on over and take a look around.

There are people doing conversions with the new plastic dwarfs and making all manner of crazy models from them.

been busy painting more blunderbusses and bull centaurs as well as a second taurus.
