I have previously posted my Necromunda Plastic Goliaths canversion self challenge and now I have a new one.

I wanted to make my Goliaths a full 50 man platoon with 5 man command but I have fallen 25 short. I have now scrounged up, from various sources, 25 of these old static garbage chaos warriors and need to make them into unique Chaos Traitorguard troopers.

Please post any ideas and or pics of the ideas to inspire me to find out how to make these into 40k traitorguard. This is going to be alot more difficult than the Goliaths:

here are the models:

and for those that didn't see the old challenge here is the results of the old plastic Goliaths:

send me inspiration and ideas please. I have one week to convert 25 warriors.

Thanks

I've converted that model myself (into a Chaos Marine) - not easy for anything beyond sticking a gun onto the left hand.

As you want Guard, you have the additional problem of making that armour look like it isn't armour - although paint will help with that, make everything possible look like leather rather than armourplate.

With some imagination, it should be possible to remove the choppy bits of the axe then add a stock and barrel, to look like a lasgun - but that would only work for one pose.

Presuming you're wanting to avoid the 'those 25 models all look the same' look, you'll need to look at removing both arms and the head for some of them - not impossible but a Whole Lotta Work.

Consider cutting some at the waist and just keeping the legs, adding a different torso.

Here are the beginnings of the conversion process. There is still alot of greenstuffing to do and adding cables/random mech parts etc etc. but this gets across some of the direction that I am going.

let me know what ya think or any ideas/advice.

Thanks

good, relieved to see you do have the skills to hack off whole moulded arms properly, I like what you've done so far.

Maybe vary the leg poses by carefully cutting off a leg just below the 'coat' then regluing it at a slightly different angle?

In fact, give a couple of models complete leg replacements, e.g. tentacles or bionic or beast legs?

I've done one leg swap and it's OK.. I think i may have some with slimey snail bodies or maybe mechanical tracks for legs to break them up a little more. Just finished hacking up and cleaning the cut areas on the 25th guy. Haven't touched the stack of legs I have in a pile on the table except for about 6 that i have cleaned up or cut up even more. I have until Sunday to gets these fully converted and prepped.

Wow, I'm really impressed with how much you've gotten out of these guys already. I read the thread's opening challenge days ago, stared at the pictures, scratched my head....
and gave up.

Nice work so far.

well... here are some more progress pics. I have all of them at about this level of conversion now. I still need to do quite a bit of GS and adding of cables and other hi-tech stuff. They are coming along though. I may just make my goal before surgery as I hoped.

let me know what you think!!!!

*deafening guitar assault!*

More great work. What are the heads on the top right 2? Part of a standard or accesories from something?

Nice to see the couple leg swaps in there.

The top pic heads on the right are a Ghoul from Fantasy and a Bloodletter with the horns cut off and not using the elongated alien-esque portion at all.

Thanks Boss!

I did it! I converted 55 total crappy Chaos Warrior and Necromunda Golith Minis to make a full 55 man infantry platoon. (including the command). This was my goal before surgery and I'm going under the knife in the morning. Here are some cruddy pics:

Let me know what ya think. I won't be back on for a week or so. I'll check in then after I'm all betterereer

It's just ridiculous what you can do with models everyone else would have just written off...

Enjoy being knifed... ^_^. Looking forward to seeing some paint on these guys after you're all healed up and the like!

Have to agree with everyone so far. You have done a great job of taking static less than ideal models and creating figures that are interesting, dynamic, and detailed. They integrate enough from the common origins, but are uniquly chaotic.

Excellent work!

I also really like them because they channel that old school sillyness that GW used to have in their minatures, but it also combines this new dark realism that they have going now. I cant wait to see them painted up.

I am home from surgery. They kept me 8 days due to complications. I have fnally returned home though I am still not myself and have a long way to go. I will enjoy the forums again when I am more able. I just wanted to thank everyone again and let them know that I'm still fighting the good fight.

Great job on the mutants/traitors. They are awesome. Feel better soon. I know we all look forward to seeing more of your work when you are feeling up to it.

Nemissary, to anyone else, I would have wished them a hearty "Good luck" to converting those old Chaos Knights and written them off, never expecting to see pics of the finished project (I know that's what happened with me years ago when I tried to turn a batch of these guys into something useful). But your mad skillz have shone through once again, proving that you can convert even the crappiest old mini into something cool again. Kudos to you, brother!

Ok. I have managed to get my feeble, recuperating butt to do some painting. I have all 55 Traitors at about this level of painting (or about 50% done each) here are a few examples.

The story on these Traitors are they were mutants and serfs from Sepheris Secundus that worked deep in the mines (that's why the have cyberdrill arms and laser cutter replacement arms etc etc) and the worked with the covert group of rebels the Broken Chains for awhile, but skipped off planet before things got too hot. They joined up with some Renegades (Alpha Legion) and became the "Blighted Scales" rebellion group. They basically are alpha legion operatives/cultists that are succumbing to Nurgle slowly but surely.

Thats just a rough of my background.

I may take a break from painting them because of a local painting competition at the Galactic Comics and Games here (due this Friday) and I'm really thinking about joining that walker competition for W.I.P. forums... it sounds fun and Nurglicious will help me

Here is my White Ferret Familiar named Quizzy. She is staring at me viciously here because I had not let here out of her 6' condo-cage to run around the house all day.

She loves to grab minis or little ziplocks full of bits and hide them around the house.

More updates when I'm able. I still cannot sit up for prolonged periods.

Love the new color scheme on these guys, nemissary. I mean, nothing wrong with the color scheme on the B-Movie Traitor Guard, but I'm digging the dark blue w/ purple accents on these guys.

It is actually the exact same color scheme These just don't have the last highlights yet and due to these minis being heavily armoured there is a ton more blue on each model so it looks like a different composition. The B-Movie guys generally had one or two blue armor spots at best.(excluding the dome headed guy)

The scheme for both groups is:

Armour plates: dark blue highlightes to a blended green.

Cloth: Gray highlighted with lighter gray.

Random metal pieces, weapons and boots: Catachan Green highlighted to a camo green mix.

Blades, gun barrels: Boltgun metal or gunmetal metal.

Cabling, conduits, or random accent: Purples.

Flesh: Rotting flesh highlighted up to Plae flesh or light flesh.

Everything of course has ink washes in there too and I use Vallejo colors that match the above colors just as much as I use GW.
