Why do Marines Always have Missle Flamer on the fron of the box ? ? thats the worst combo ever why ?

tradition. While the sprue comes with ML + all three specials now, it used to only come with ML + flamer. Everything else was metal.

But do they Play test any of this cause when I bought a *Vostayen (new guard) Box it came with Heavy bolter Flamer.

it looks cool on the box so the kids are more likly to buy it

When Combat Squads come into the new codex (probs) it should make the choice more viable

It's the perfect combo you can fire the Missile Launcher at a Carnifex and then you can flame the genestealers before you charge.

Yeah its an assy combo, but I don't think that it dictates too many gamers army compositions, and certainly doesn't hurt GW's ability to sell minis. Keep in mind that Terminators in plastic now come with Assault Cannons... take what you can get.

Assuming you wanted a true tactical squad, capable of taking on all comers missile launcher and flamer is a good combo. The missile launcher is anti tank and anti horde weapon, the flamer is a good close in gun.
All you are missing is a plasma pistol for heavy armour penetration.

Now this doesn't translate too well into the game, but it makes sense on a fluff note.

It also looks cool.
Giant spurts of flame shooting from the end of a flame thrower, and missiles shrieking from the ends of missile launchers are cool in drawings.

Yea but it's a Stupid Combo.

Like in Brothers of the Snake.

They had a lighting Claw and Plasma gun an killed every thing and a Drednought with a Lascannon.

That was a good book.

But in game that SUCKS. (Missle Flamer and (1)Lighting Claw and Plasma gun in a Assualt unit)

Not everyone could give a stuff about bad-ass combos.

Some people just play the game because it looks cool. For some army composition is not about min-maxing to try and get the best opportunity for winning, for some its about putting together what looks nice, or fun.

There are other motivations in the world than yours ghostmaker, so be careful when telling kids what they "should" or "shouldn't" do.

The ONLY thing they "should" do is try and have fun. And for them that fun may not derive from improved mathematical probabilities of winning a game...

Been building Marine squads with ML/Flamer since the dawn of time. Some habits are just to hard to break.

I used the combo the other day in a tournt; was nice as it was a cheap 6 man missile launcher squad with cheap flamer. shoot the opponent till he gets close then use the flamer and bolters to harras the enemy. wasnt too bad and it was a cheap throw away squad. I wouldnt call it useless indeed I will think about using again in the future.

I guess it requires a player to know when to move to get into flamer range instead of using the Missle Launcher. Besides you don't have to model them into the squad so like it matters whats on the Front of the box. As long as it sells
