Are the 30 conscripts your "all purpose sheild" providing a grot cover save and HtH defense for your firebase?

Looks pretty darn good, for a start at least. I wouldnt mind trying it out.

That's correct. They're the walking cover save if needed, or, more commonly, the meatshield that prevents you from assaulting the tanks.

The neat trick of this army is that I can pretty reliably choose if I want to be LD10 with a reroll, or <LD7 with no reroll depending on if I want to break from combat or not. Should make it so that I really don't need much in the way of countercharge (since I have none!)>

Thats pretty friggin' devious...the best of both worlds.

You think you've got enough to hose down whatever gets within your lines on this list?

How do you think this stands up to a good ork horde?

Looks a little light on bodies for a typical guard list, even factoring in adding the sisters. Why the Eviscerators in the sister squads? Are you intending them to bust tanks, or fight in CC? You also don't seem to have any countercharge units. I guess the plan is since the enemy can't consolidate into your units, you just let them assault you and then finish off what's left over from shooting? What about an army that assaults you with multiple units at once, like Demons or Blood Angels?

What are the sisters doing for you here that you can't do with regular guardsmen? Also, 1 unit of Rough Riders or Seraphim would be nice to help your boys out if they get assaulted.

It seems like the lascannon teams would be high priority and pretty easy to kill. What if you switched lascannons to the platoon squads and autocannons or ML's for the fire support teams?

I guess the question is how much better did your enemies become in sniping your leadership mechanism with artillery under 5th edition? If your magic reroll disaapears under a whirlwind template a chunk of your battle plan goes away.

I can't pretend to know the IG dex well but is there some redundancy you can build into the leadership mechanism?

No easier than they've always been. And with guaranteed 4+ cover, even less so.

I have ML in the platoon squads so that the whole squad can be shooting non vehicle/MC stuff when it gets close.

And do I really care if they're shooting them? They don't score, so if they're shooting them, then something else is getting to where it needs to be.

You can not. But even if the entire command squad dies, I still have LD9/10 unmodified if I want it. And you can bet my bassie will be trading shots with that thing, if my meltagun remnants don't take it out.

I'm going to go on record right now as saying this owns anything but heavily mechanized orks (as far as orks go). And it may even own them.

Pretty solid list. Me likey. Think about an elite inquisitor with a null rod. It makes people that take harlies on foot pay if you join him to a unit that has great anti-infantry shooting...and it's dirt cheap. I have one in my hybrid list like this and he is extremely helpful for low cost.

Yes, that list would definitely beat this list....

....if I sent my 9 year old to play in my place. Otherwise you're toast.

I'm just worried about your lack of long range fire...7 Lascannons and 3 missle launchers seem pretty light for guard. Plus with only 4 faith points, your close range AP 1 fire is limited. Are the rhinos really worth it for the list you are making? They seem like easy targets compared to the other tanks in the list. Maybe it would be better for the Sister squads to be 15 strong instead.

I have had problems with 10 sisters if they get charged with anything scary. They are too big to use a faith point and usually get owned with power weapons. While they will probably be small enough the next assault phase to use Martyr, the amount of attacks the enemy has is usually enough to kill them.

I'd say that was trolling but that was just...weak.

Way weak, besides if Mauleed's 9yr old was worthy of playing his betters, Ed would have just said his 7yr old instead.... he's very precise about this kinda stuff.

Anyhow I'm running a hybrid tau list, and I'm probably more worried about this list than steleks. However, its the player that makes a good list great, so if either one of you are in the bay area, you can give me a run for my money.
