Just a little list I'm thinking of throwing together with some of the models my brother and I have lying around. Nothing like pooling resources to create an entirely new army, eh?

Comments and Criticisms welcome. Bring both if you do oblige though; they aren't mutually exclusive. And yes, there is no AV13+ anti-tank weapons in this list. I know that.

Pure Grey Knights, no allies yet (though a Dread and some Armored Fist Squads are on the horizon). 10 Psycannon, 25 Storm Bolters, and a ton of Str6 Close Combat Weapons.

The maths say that this army can drop 11 Marines and 22 Guardsmen a turn in shooting. That's a reasonable amount of antipersonnel firepower at 1500

The upside of this army is that it can choose to sit still, or it can move, receives very little in the way of penalties. Everything is an Assault Weapon or mounted on a Relentless model, and with 24" being the bread and butter shooting range, the army is not going to have too much difficulty finding something in range.

Tactically, I'm thinking that with the introduction of Run! to the rules, the Psycannons may end up unused, competing for the Shooting Phase with the ability to move an extra D6". Given the right opponent, running would be great. Against armies that need softening up on the way in (CC-heavy armies like BA, BT, Nids, Orks, etc.), could choose not to run and just blast away, letting the shorter-ranged armies come to them.

I think that long-ranged weapons and fast units/vehicles will be a real problem for this list. With most armor being AV10 in the rear, that many Str6 hits will make short work of everything sans a Monolith, Land Raider, Soulgrinder, and Demolisher, of which the latter two are still vulnerable, making vehicles less of a threat than they were in 4th.

I know it's not very competitive, but I'd like to hear your thoughts. Does it at least play to the strengths of a pure GK Arm?

Thanks in advance.

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling, which thinks that nothing is worth war, is much worse. The person, who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature who has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."

You are low on anti tank ... the best way I have seen all GK lists run is to sit on your table edge and make the enemy come to you and eat psycannon fire the whole time, while missing you with most of their long range shots due to shrouding. If you plan on DSing them the whole equation changes and you get eaten like a mid battle snack. Well, ok not quite that easy and now that rend will not be the absolute doom of terminators it may get a ltitle better.

Either way good luck. All GK armies are nice to see on the tabletop.

This will own demons out of Control. Its low on anti tank but looking at it from the perspective of the armies I play, with 10 psycannons, my necrons would have some trouble dropping those terminators. Also, my Khorne list would also take casualties while moving in and then get ownd up close. Against infantry heavy armies, I think It will work.

Against an infantry heavy army, this seems like it could be a fun army to field. However, as you are aware of the lack of anti-tank fire the list possess certain vehicles will be tough for you. Vehicles like Soul Grinders good make things very unpleasant for you as it will be able to resist all your fire unless you get behind it and it will eat your troops on CC. Also while you do have a lot of anti-infantry shooting, remember that a large number of your opponents will probably have more firepower due to higher model count. This force will also have to be careful of dangerous CC units like genestealers, harlequins and even Khorne Berserkers (if they get the charge).

I don't think you should expect this army to win a lot of its games but it is definitely a very cool army. I really like the idea of sending a large force of the Emperor's finest out onto the battlefield to fight against nearly impossible odds. I hope the army works out for you.
