Just wondering what peoples thoughts were on the large Horror blocks?

I'm working out a DoC army and I have to admit there is an appeal to having a Level 3 caster in an army with a Blood Thirster in it, and the more I thought about the army as a whole I see it as an expensive investment, but something that's pretty useful.

The config I'd run is 32-33 Horrors (nice buffer for staying at Level 3 Status), with a Herald in the Unit, with the Changeling to protect the Herald; and the Icon of +1 to Cast. It's expensive as all get out, but it provides a hell of a lot of magic offense and can really pull DD/Scrolls to let other magic get through. Also 4 Dice gives me a good shot of getting Bolt of Change off.

But then it's a 500 point unit that if an opponent runs a tarpit at, they can hope for Gift Of Chaos to go off and that's about it.

I should note that for the army that these guys are running in I will have the Icon of Chaos Glory in the unit, so between the Changeling, Icon, 4+ Ward, and the Banner it's a unit my opponent doesn't want to touch either.

Anyway, I'd just like opinions on this particular setup and on Level 3 Horror blocks in general. I'm just thinking through what to take for my core and this seems like a good idea on paper, but I've got something nagging at the back of my head saying that this is a pit I should be avoiding.

Plus it'd be nice to have core that wasn't just 3x10 Horrors.

well it depends on what you want to use with the unit - will you charge with it or you will just use its magic or boost your other mages? If opponents flank you it will be easy points for them because of the horror's human stats. with 500 points you might as well get 3 tzeentch heralds.. and you could split them up. If you really want a block make it a L2-it will still be decent enough

The horror unit is cool because it gives you the ability to run a high lvl mage without using up your lord slot.
I will be running the 30 man unit beside the thirster for a while to test it out.
