Thanks guys. I look forward to making new memories with that piece. I think I am going to pick up some of the Orlock gangers to get involved. I don't particularly care for Orlocks but they have a powerfist and a harpoon gun. That may be enough. Any ways, back to the current project.

It was in the forties the other day so I took the moment to prime my primaris marines along with the terrain bits. First question, these thermal pipes, have any of you had experience with the kit? I would like to glue them onto their little stands but then I would loose some of the options for play. Do you think they will fit together well enough without the glue?

I may paint them all up and then play a few games and test it. I can always glue them later. Please let me know what you think about that?

Hello guys, I apologize for my complete and utter lack of progress on anything but my time has not been complete absorbed by other things. My ability to post, however, has been very bad. Below are some current projects sitting on my desk. A genestealer cult gang, several gangs worth of orlock, and some kharadron overlords. I have primed everything, as you can see, but only my overlords have seen much more. I do have to fess up though, I started working on an orlock guy. From this point forward, he will be known as stinky pete. Stinky Pete and I did not get along very well. First off he is an old guy from the nineties. Wow is that funny to say out loud. I made the very bad decision of not having a plan when i started to paint. I just started slapping paint on him. Pete did not turn out well. I should probably put a picture of him up here so you guys can see just how poorly I painted him. I then switched over to the duardin. I really like them. I messed around with the metallic formula for them until I settled on what you see. I, once again, could not decide on what to paint the rest of them. In the picture you'll see a red guy, a purple guy, and a tan guy. This painting indecision has been very aggravating. It also led me to think about a potential book I may write some day. More about that later.

Have you guys run into this issue before? What have you done to overcome this painting mental block?

Mate, I suffer from paint bring block all the time. things I’ve found helpful is to a) step away for a few and b) read some of the books or something (as I love the drama of40k).
Genestealer models look awesome. How did you find the dwarf to paint?

Painting block is a real thing, not made easier when you don't really like the look of the model to begin with. When I did the tank push of 2015, I hated the drop pod, I hated the 'Filer' (only for painting, the model looked awesome) so the flow on effect was the entire push took bloody ages.

Don't force it, if you do its probably sh*t

I do love the 40k lore as well. That is why I am writing my own series. I think part of that is the problem for me. My free time is dedicated to TOO many things and painting is an exercise that you need to be in the right mind set for AND have got your skills in the right place for. I am near finishing up my second book and that is clouding my thoughts. I find myself thinking about my fluff or my painting or whatever gaming I am into at the time and whatever that focus is on is what I am most efficient at proceeding with. Does that make sense to anyone other then me?

Gitsplitta wrote:All the time man. Sometimes only time away fixes it. Other times it's just discipline and forcing myself back onto the horse.

I may be trying to force the painting a bit to much, at least with the Stinky Pete model.

That is exactly what I am doing with with Kharadron Overlords.

Thanks Monkeytroll. I appreciate having someone to commiserate with.

I totally agree.

Thanks for all of the feedback guys. I think I am going to rearrange my priorities here a bit. Finish fluff then take a break from writing to replace that allotted time with painting. (that will at least appease Knightley, lol) It'll help that the new Van Saar guys are coming out and those were my JAM back in the day. That will give me a bit of some pressure to get everything else done before they arrive. Any ways, I am going to run upstairs and snap a picture of Stinky Pete for you guys. Maybe the natural light will help. (yeah right)

Better then that San! I've already written one book entirely here on dakka. The second is in the same fluff thread. I think there is a link to it in my signature. It started as a fun writing exercise several years ago and became its own monster.

Check it out and tell me what you think.

Exactly! Better to cut your loses, right? Thanks for the read Cam.

Important question for you guys but first some back story. I am getting new carpet this week and I have had to move EVERYTHING from my upstairs to my downstairs. That means all of my 40k crap. I love my 40k crap but I have a ton that sees NO play. I hardly play 40k at all. I have been so interested in necromunda and AOS and everything else. I think its time for a purge. So, to the important question. Have you guys used the swap shop? How did that work? How'd you feel about it? What suggestions do you have?

I have done tons of ebay over the years and its okay but honestly, I just want to trade this stuff for other stuff. Give me your thoughts on this. I have a ton of space marines and nids that I am looking to move. I will of course keep a sizeable Ice Angel force but I do not need 3 whirlwinds for example. Or 50 metal terminators. Or 7 landspeeders. I think you get the idea.

Sorry this isn't very P&M at the moment but I'll get to that. Carpet is Thursday. The move back will then ensue and the work station will be better then ever! I am excited about that. I have a back log of Necromunda that is waiting to be filled.

If you are looking to use SS expect to take a hit in value, especially on older style models with paint on them.

I have had good experience with the ss, better in the dcm one. But you can also post here. I mean to say, what are you after?

I think like Whalemusic says, people are a bit sharper on value on Dakka.

Have to add I would be interested in some of what you have.

Good points. Cam, your last comment made me think. I don't truly have a specific idea of what I am looking for. I think some necromunda models or terrain would be prime. There are some AOS armies and figures I would be interested in, but that is a bit broad. Specifics in the SS would probably be more useful. Would you agree?

Specifics are sometimes good, but sometimes you get interesting offers if you are more open. For instance, if you just said "Necromunda" you may end up with offers for gangs you don't play, or 3rd party/scratch built terrain, where as if you said you were looking for NoS-only Van Saar, you might not end up with any offers.

Thanks. I am not sure what to do with them. Any one want them?

In hobby news, I have been slowly planning some Van Saar guys. One has been built. Pics are coming. I have also unearthed several other random hobby projects. More pics! I am hoping to get more accomplished this weekend.

A lot of hobby progress has been made. Battles have also occurred. Come see them and rejoice!

Let us start with some battles. Memorial Day we had a 3k Age of Sigmar game. We played 6 turns and called it. Here is my team, the Force of Order.

The deployment was split so that half of each army was right on top of each other. The other half of each was deployed further away. Mayhem ensued. PICS!
Deployment

Gubblefuzz and B were the forces of death with some confused stormcast. Sidekick and I were the good guys. I was the general for the force in the middle against Gubblefuzz. B and Sidekick were both the reinforcement generals. This picture shows us the middle forces smashing against one another and the death general running away.

I do not have any more pictures of this one but in the end we figured out percentage based amount of models left and my team was slightly winning. We called it a draw.

NEXT: Tuesdays have become necromunda night. We are 4 games in our first cycle turf war. We had back to back shoot outs last Tuesday. It was an absolute blast.

The first game I got SCHOOLED by moonpies leader, Hekatte Latte. She took one shot and took out both of my gangers. We then played again and I took out his three. The above picture is from the second fight.

Now on to the hobby stuff. I put some Van Saar together.

I love the new kits.

I also started playing around with some necromunda terrain. Here are some early staging pictures to get an idea of what I'm going for. The first picture is a bit of an over view. The second picture has more of the extra bits on it and some guys for scale.

I hope you have enjoyed my post. Tell me your thoughts. I have already gotten more completed on the terrain but no pictures to support that statement yet. I primed it. I started adding textures to the boards and floor. I like the direction its going but I still have a ways to go.

Love me some necromunda. wish I had some mates around here to play it with. Still doesn't stop me from collecting though. Got a box of Orlocks, though I'm mostly invested in Goliaths.

Terrain looks great.

Thanks guys! I do not know where I got that landraider track from but I figured this would be one of the best ways to use it.

After priming my terrain piece I realized how boring the walls looked so I went back and started adding some card to it. I am still trying to figure out the best way to do it. Here are some more WIP. I also started messing with some texture paint stuff that moonpie left over here.

Thoughts?

Coming on nicely. Card's great for adding panel texture to walls. If you use some different thicknesses and add a few random panels it's surprising how it can breakup all that flat area. Maybe some pipework too - inside/outside of pens, q-tips, straws, etc.

I'm a big fan of wires and cables too, but it all depends on how much detail you want.

More WIP. I added all sorts of texture. Lots of gritty black and grays. I sponged on various things and when it was all done I added some dry brushing so you could see it. I still have some more dry brushing to go but I had some good lighting so i grabbed these pics.

Thanks for the comments guys!

I really like that Ice. Excellent work on your part. Combination of a relatively bright color with lots of dirt and rusty metal really is striking. Happy to see those old plastic footings from the old cardboard terrain in use too. Have a small horde of those myself that I've been saving for an as-yet-undetermined special project.
