Hi everyone!

I've been lurking around the forums for years and finally decided to actually post something now that I'm getting back to the hobby after a good while of playing WoW. As a dedicated follower of Nurgle I just had to get the Chaos Daemons codex and start building an army. I already had plenty of Nurglings and a GUO lying around, but then I remembered the fact that Plague Bearers are still all metal, which is quite a no-no in my book for basic troops that I'd need plenty of. Thankfully a box of Crypt Ghouls for VC caught my eye in the store and I just had to give them a try. Dunno if this is an old idea already, but at least I haven't been able to find any similar conversions so far.

The pictures. Click the thumbs for bigger pics.

C&C more than welcome, I'm not making more of them before I hear what people think of the first ones. Personally I'd like the guts to be more detailed, but haven't figured out how to do that fast enough with putty yet. Another thing is the horns which are quite a lot slimmer than the ones on official models. Looks a bit funny in my eyes but can't decide if the bulkier ones would look any better.

The last image is for scale comparison and the "big nurgling" in the middle is an old sculpt of mine that used to count as a daemon prince in my CSM Nurgling army. I'd love to do a less cartoony resculpt of him as a proper Daemon Prince for the new army, but I'm having hard time deciding how to scale him. The problem is that 40mm base allows to widen the model only around 50% but the official Daemon Princes are at least twice as tall as the current version of the model, so the resculpt would end up looking quite silly in my opinion. Using a bigger base would naturally be the easiest solution, but I've heard that the bigger bases will require opponents permission in the 5th edition. Any suggestions with this one?

Dude those look great, and are exactly what I will be messing with in the coming weeks. I don't like Metal models, so I really want plastic damnit and those look bad ass.

If you paint that well as you model I congratulate you on the worlds best plague bearer models so far.

That looks great. Definitely gonna steal that idea if I end up doing plaguebearers too

Terrific looking models, way better than the official ones, in my eyes.

I've got to add - if you're doing a Nurgle army, you've got to pick up Epidemius. He makes Nurgle armies incredibly powerful.

Also - use the cartoony "big nurgling" as a Herald of Nurgle. Takes up the other half of the HQ choice left by Epidemius... perfect!

Wow, those are totally nasty. Disgusting. (in a good way)

Nice job!

Oh, and second the nurgling daemon prince thing. That just sounds too cool.

Thanks for the kind words everyone!

Sorry, but I think Nurgle would cast all kinds of nasty diseases on me if I'd let go of any of these babies.

Epidemius will definetly get in the army. I could never justify myself not taking him if I'm playing a pure Nurgle army.

Anyway, I decided to post an update of some sort.

Plague Bearers have evolved further along my own opinions and comments from some people. Horns did get bigger and the guts have been redone so that they now actually have a texture instead of just flat surfaces. I'm also going to use a small variety of different weapons for the rest of the bunch. One of the modified Plague Bearers and some variations of Plague Swords in the making.

I figured out how the "big nurgling with a Manreaper" could be resculpted and started working on it. Pretty much just the basic frame done so far. I'll also need another winged prince to go along with him in the 1500pts list, so I'm open for suggestions regarding how to model the another one.

I also started assembling some Nurgling bases for the army, but ran out of bases... Nothing fancy coming up for these, just some more weapon swaps at most.

What I also did, now that I'm in kinda modelling frenzy, was that I finished an Obliterator for the old Nurgling army I mentioned in the first post. The Obliterators were supposed to be Nurglings that have eaten a bunch of weapons and can now control them thanks to warp. The other two(that never got even started) were supposed to be more weapon heavy than this one. with weapons coming out from their hands too etc. I'm not totally satisfied how the model turned out. I was indeed going for a froggish look, but I think that's pretty much what it looks like now instead of a further mutated Nurgling... Thankfully I can just let it be now that I got the skin texture finished, as I don't need the model for anything anymore.

So that's pretty much it for now. Naturally any C&C are welcome!

Nice, man. I expected from the title for them to look pretty cheesy, but I have to say they look really sharp - better in most ways than the (now) current Plaguebearers...

Nice work! I am using some dryads as the base for some Lessor Demons for a CSM army. Making demons is fun!
