Are there any super-cool features in this new version that I should know about?
How is everyone liking it?
Oh, and for anyone who knows, it's been bugging me: how the heck do they make money off a browser for a three year development cycle?

They make craploads of money. Every time you use the search bar in the top right of your browser and it goes to google, yahoo, or whoever, they get a share of the pay per click money from any adverts that are clicked on those search pages. Google is basically funding all mozilla development, to the tune of tens or hundreds of millions of dollars a year.

NO WAY. I had no idea. I will be sure and use the search bar exclusively from now on.

That is the one I mean... anytime you end up on a google search results page from any one of the default URL or search fields at the top of the firefox window, if you click an advert, the mozilla foundation makes money. They are happy as they get funding, google are happy as more people are using their site and dominance is taken away from MSN and Internet Explorer.
The Dakka Browza might be a few years away just yet

Firefox 3.0 is definitely faster. I think that they cut down on some of the overhead and memory usage, and there seems to be a few more anti-phishing features.
I loaded up some of the image-heavy Modelling Projects threads and I wasn't able to scroll down fast enough to see an image loading. I like it so far.

Oh, and it finally fixed that annoying ALT-text bug so you can read ALL of Achewood's and XKCD's Alt-text without looking at the source code.

Most of the improvements in FF3 are under the hood. It DOES have improved memory handling, i.e. it won't just play sponge for lack of better to do to your RAM, etc. The security is a bit better, and if you're running AdBlock an NoScript, unless you enable Google Analytics, Google doesn't make anything on you. Good news though, you can enable GA on specific sites if you like, like Dakkadakka...
