So, Im trying to get one of these 3 armies ready for some tournament action. Im still building the Daemons, while the Death Guard and Dark Angels are all ready to go model-wise, but still need some painting/modeling to get them all squared up for the show.

Ok, so there they are, what do you think of them? Being that the daemons are my latest I think Id like to focus on getting them into winning condition, though, the Dark Angels have always been one of my favorites. Death Guard is great, I played the heck outta them last codex, and loved converting the crap outta my army. I think I used a few pounds of green stuff on them.
So, in a way, if I had to pick an order in which Id like to see help for these lists, it'd be:
Daemons
Dark Angels
Death Guard

Should I take the resounding silence for totally crap army lists? I guess I can do that. Maybe Ill put the daemons towards WFB instead.....
Sell the Dark Angels for scrap, and melt down the metal Death Guard figures and make a Titan to sell on ebay....yea, that's the ticket....

Do you want them rewritten or what?

They start out so-so and just get worse as they go down.

I see 'tactical squad' spam in a DA list and my eyes glaze over.

Rewritten isnt totally necessary, but if you're up for it...feel free.....

Im not a tournament player (as Im sure you'll guess by my lists), but I want to have something worth a damn to take to one.
1750pts. Im open to suggestions as long as they dont break the bank, as Im sure you all know how it goes....


*edit* IF you feel up to it, show me a few Dark Angels lists that WOULD work.....As far as the usual Deathwing/Ravenwing goes, I have about 9-10 termies w/assorted weapons, and what Ive got for Ravenwing, you're looking at, not much to write home about really, and neither of which are enough to focus into an entire army.....so what would you suggest?

*edit-edit* Id love to make this army work, but if you're telling me with what Ive got it's pretty worthless, I guess I can dig out the snot green, do some highlights/flame effects and call them Salamanders .....

Any explanations into the units you chose for these lists? Some tactical insights perhaps? I get the jist of the Daemon codex, but Im a little confused as to your choices for the Dark Angels, being that minus Sammael, it could pretty much be any marine chapter. Id appreciate it, and also appreciate your time and efforts in this endeavor.
Two side questions: If it were to be a standard marine codex chapter, what would you swap in for Sammael?
Have you ever kicked around an Iyanden eldar army list, and if so, do you have a link for it?

Anyone else feel free to jump in, of course.

For the DA question:


The tactical squads can split into combat squads and go lascannon into the rhino and the PF + flamer into the LRC.

The lascannon squad fires at enemy tanks.
The rhinos fire at troops. The rhinos should park in front of the LRC and hope they get wrecked so your LRC have 4+ cover saves. If you do lose the Rhinos to a wreck, jump in and grab more cover saves for your marines.

The flamer and PF defend the LRC from close up assaults.
The LRC chew up infantry.

Sammael runs around killing infantry and staying at range. If he isn't dead or stunned at the end of the game, he can try to go and contest something.

The Venerables fire at enemy tanks and if a PF squad gets across the board, can tie them up for a long time.

If you face the right army, you can just button up your two tactical squads into the LRC and go nya-nya to armies without sufficient ranged anti-tank to take you down. Which in 5E is 90% of the armies and 95% of the builds out there. My own armies are very heavy on the anti-tank but if I can't deliver melta shots into you, I'm going to have a bad day because lascannons don't do a whole lot but stun the dreads all day. /clap

Venerable dreads? Suck.

Sammael? Suck.

Land Raiders? Suck.

Basically you have 6 vehicles no one is going to enjoy trying to kill, and it's most of your army.

Hide behind the wall of tanks. No other army is going to get 3 AV14 vehicles and 3 ven dreads without looking mighty silly. At least you can claim to be some sort of heavy mech force and not get looked at for being a cheese head.
