This is gonna be an all purpose tourney list. Also I when I play my friends, they all play fear causing armies, and also I have an obsession with beating my friends VC list. Though I haven't played him since i added SM's and WL's to my list. Lemme know what you think.

Lords & Heroes

475 - Teclis
136 - Noble, Barded Steed, Lance, Heavy Armour, Battle Standard, Battle Banner, Shield

Core
110 - 10 Archers
110 - 10 Archers

Special

180 - 5 X Dragon Princes, Drakemaster, Talisman of Leoic
222 - 14 X Swordmasters, Bladelord
277 - 14 X White Lions, Full Command, War Banner, Amulet of Light
287 - 15 X Phoenix Guard, Standard, Banner of Sorcery

Rare

100 - Bolt Thrower
100 - 2 X Great Eeagle

Total = 2000

Noble going with Dragon Princes of course, and going to try to keep my Great Eagles close to them as well. Gonna take advantage of the White Lions woodsmen ability and combine that with Amulet of Light to take out those pesky Etherals that like to hide in forests. I haven't had any luck at all with Phoenix Guards once I get them into combat, but they are good guards for Teclis if he needs to join the unit, and the best place for the Banner of Sorcery. People keep telling me how god they are, so I'm gonna go with them again and hopefully they don't break from combat on first turn like they always have for me. With 2 units of archers, 1 bolt thrower I think should be enough, even though I love them, I think when I go up against Ogres ill end up swapping my great eagles for another bolt thrower.

Any advice is appreciated,

Cheers,

Yikes High Elf specials running in units outside of 7-10. Whatever for?

One bolt thrower and 2 units of archers does not shooty make.

Drop 'em all for spearmen.

Teclis is mighty, but all by himself? I guess with 7-9 dice and his doubles power it could work.

I'd still rearrange the units to give more total units.

ASF + high I really does help.

Still pretty new playing HE's, haven't tried the smaller unit sizes before, ill give it a shot, 7-10, just a 7 wide unit? and with the 10 do a 5X2?. I also messed up in a calculation, need to shave off 80 points, misread how the battle banner price works. I find with Teclis that there is really no point having another mage, because of the irrisistible force, my opponent tends to have a lot of dispell dice left after im done casting with Teclis.

i agree you should drop the archers and get a block of spear elves. also i wouldn't suggest using phoenix guard unless you really want something that can take a lot of punishment. they dontseem to do enough damage to survive in combat..which is th enly wayhigh elf units can win combat s because they are almost always outnumbered..etc. they hold the banner fo sorcery pretty well tho...in 3000 point games that is who iu have it with..but in amsaller gam,es you might want to get something else.

i like 5X2 swordmasters and have two of them one on each flank. then the white lions postioned behind a forest for quick charging into seemingly protected flanks.

Played a 2000 point game against ogres, scored a solid victory with this list

Teclis
Noble, BSB, Battle Banner, Barded, Heavy Armour, Shield, Lance

24 Spearmen
10 Archers

5 Dragon Princes, Drakemaster, Talisman of Leoc

7 Swordmasters
7 Swordmasters

7 White Lions, Guardian, Standard, Lion Standard
7 White Lions, Guardian, Standard

2 Bolt Throwes
2 Great Eagles

Total was 2000

I dont know my opponents exact list, but he had 2 units of 3 lead belchers, 2 units of 5 bulls, 1 unit of knoblars, 2 Butchers, Ironguts with his Tyrant. I took Lore of Shadow with Teclis, which I absolutely loved. Pit of Shades was very effective against his lead belchers, I wanted to make sure to get those outa the game first. Also Unseen Lurker was great for getting my White Lions and Swordmasters into excellent flaking positions. My unit of dragon princes did the most damage still, taking out a unit of bulls, the knoblars(which i hate) and finally his Hive and Ironguts. Eagles were effective, helping my Lions take out a unit of bulls and also owning one of his butchers. 1 of my units of SM's were really good, same with 1 of my white lions, while the other 2 units wern't so fortunate, even when flanking his main unit. I tried to get my spearmen to tie up his main unit, but unfortunatley they failed the fear test and got wiped out, but i will try that block again for sure.

I'll take your guys advice and not use archers, they didnt do a damn thing that game. I like going with the bolt throwers against ogres though because of the D3 wounds. I dunno if they did enough damage to cover their point cost, but maybe just always fielding one against ogres might be more beneficial and spend the points on more spearmen.

If i drop my archers, 1 bolt thrower and get another unit of spearmen, and perhaps a mage if i shuffle some points around, do you think it would be a viable list againts Vampire Counts(heavy magic)? It's my obsession to beat this army hehe.

against an army like the vampire counts the archers will do more damga ethan they did against the ogres. you might want to keep them. the RBTs wont do a lot of good except n there knights. the spearmen is a good idea. i think that the only real way to know is to try and beat him. also, you might want some phoenix guard because that will counter the uindeads fear. at least you can send in some guys who are gonna stay and do battle normally. i say really you should just try.

Against counts would i be better off combining my SMs and WLs into 2 7X2 groups instead? In 2000 point games after combat I can probly outnumber my opponent if i go with 14 guys thats why I ask. I worried that even if I kill an entire front rank with my SM's im still going to loose combat. I guess the best strat to avoid that though would be only to go into combat with groups which I have successfully casted pit of shades on. I'll come up with a list for this and post it here, lemme know what you think.
