Even more humble than you might think, as I only have a mere five Orks assembled, no conversion work, and not even painted yet. This is more a first impressions on the kit.

That being the Shoota Boyz don't look like they offer much variety without extra work. To get their guns to fit under their heads, the heads have to pretty much be craned all the way up. Even a fairly small drop in their chin blocks their gun, thus two of mine are holding their guns over their head. I didn't intend to do that when I started, they just wouldn't fit otherwise. Probably wouldn't have this problem with Slugga Boyz, since their arms are more out to their sides.

Other than that, it's not a bad kit. Good detail, nice variety of bitz, and it can even make 11 normal Orks, which is nice as I thought it was going to be 10 Orks and a Nob, and I was wondering what I would do with all those extra Nobz. With my army plan clocking in at 120 Boyz, I plan to get some of the Fantasy plastic Orcs to help add more variety to them all, as well as the various metal Orks like Tank Bustas to mix in there.

If I want to get this army done sometime this century I'll really have to get cracking, so I'm hoping to sit myself down and have these first guys painted in the next day or two to develop and then showcase my planned paint schemes.

Actually you could also try to have a few pointing forward singlehandedly. The other hand can hold a ccw of sorts (a smallisch knife or so) That is a extra positon too.

I have modeled up 48 boys so far, 22 shootas 2 shoota-nobs (slugga / powerklaw and bannerpole) and 22 slugga boys 2 slugganobs (slugga / powerklaw / bannerpole). They all look somewhat different and that is before painting.

The fact that there are so many different looking guns, torso's and heads makes the orks all look like a different ork, unlike marines who are always very much the same without conversions...

Anyway keep it up and the number of boys will grow fast and you will be able to start painting them. (My advise build 30 paint 30 and so on. This will keep you from going insane...)

Agree on the unfortunate posing options for shoota boyz. I sat down to remake my GorkaMorka mob from way back with the new(er) orks and was pretty disappointed with all the arm gaps and problems getting the heads to fit ...

But good luck! Look forward to a test scheme.

I'm trying to figure out what i can do with the 3 extra torsos you get in each box. I was thinking about converting them, to look like the infiltrators so they looked like they were popping out of spider holes and ambushing someone.

Yeah, shoota boyz do start to look fairly samey with regard to their poses. Just mix and match the bodies, heads, and shootas though so each will still retain some look of individuality.

All my shoota boyz are just holding their guns, though you can turn their head to the side (somewhat) so it looks like they are looking at what their gun is pointing at.

I've been wondering too what to do with all my extra arms, bodies, and heads....if only I could get like 20 pairs of Legs I could probably assemble that many more boyz.

I was thinking about doing some Cyborks and constructing the boyz legs and maybe an arm here or there.

I definitely want to get some fantasy orks though, so I can do a proper mob of Snakebite clan boyz.

I have 33 boyz painted at the moment plus a trukk, 3 warbikerz, a deff dread, a warboss, and a big mek. Also have 5 lootas assembled, and another box of 10 boyz I need to assemble.

Eventually i'll probably have around 80 regular ork boyz in my army. I don't want to do a pure boyz army as I like some of the Ork's toys.

I just need another box of lootas, the ork battleforce box, and some nobs and i'll be...pretty close to done. Hah!

I've not forgotten about this, just been waffling between this and Tau. Had pretty much decided to drop these guys and go to Tau, then I was given a free handful of bitz at the FLGS the other day, and free stuff always tends to help sway one in it's direction. Used one of em to put together the first of my Nobs, Goff to be exact, to help boost my interest in working on these guys. He's nothing too particularly special yet.

Oh, also... I have the `Uge Choppa from the biker box. It's a really cool looking axe, yet `Uge Choppas just are not all that useful and I have none in my army. Any thoughts on a good use for this thing?

I really like the way you used your bits here. I haven't seen anyone use the biker shield as a head yet, and I really like it. I usually hate horns, so I don't use it on my bikes...but I may just have to use that idea.

Don't give up on the shoota boyz, there are tons of different ways you can make then unique. You can use beakie shoulder pads, GS some straps on the guns, model them at ease with their shootaz over their shoulders, model the shoota strapped to their back and have them throwing stikkbomms, reverse the gun and model it over the orks head like they are swinging it like a club, cut the shootaz up and put them back together different, swap out ammo clips and barrels, position them running, ducking, jumping, taking aim on a pile of munitions, and thats just off the top. Have fun, and look at what other people have done.

I LOVE ORKS!!!

Here are some simple ones that I did that add character. I will be adding to my shoota mobs in the near future, give me some of YOUR ideas to loot

"Orkses never lost a battle. If we win we win, if we die we die fighting so it don't count. If we runs for it we don't die neither, cos we can come back for annuver go, see!"

I dig how in a setting where giant, muscled fungus men ride Mad Max cars and use their own teeth as currency, the concept of little engineering dudes with beards was considered a step too far down the aisle of silliness.

I like the shoota as club idea, gona have to use that one.

My general plan for the Boyz are four mobz of em. Goff Shootaz, Goff Sluggas, Bad Moon Shootaz, and Death Skull Shootaz. In addition I'll have Snake Bite Kommandos and Blood Axe Kommandos.

The Goffs will be mostly normal. Lots of horned helms. I'll use the swords and some other assorted things for their Choppas.

The Bad Moons are going to appear heavier armored with the shoulder pads as well as some fantasy Black Orcs parts mixed on. Won't use em as `Ard Boyz though, it's just to give me more larger flat areas to paint their flames on, as well as let them show off their wealth. To that end I'll also have some of them carrying the chainswords that come with the Boyz.

Snake Bites will be made up from the fantasy Orcs and generally try to look more low tech, while not being just fantasy.

Blood Axes will use the axe choppas that they Goffs didn't make use of. I've not decided which of these two Kommando units will make use of the cool masks that a couple of the metal Kommandos have.

The Death Skulls will then gather up a mixture of the trade mark items from the other mobz, and of course paint them blue. Darn dirty thieves.

Anyways, Been doing some more work on that Nob. First off when I put him down next to the other orks, he didn't appear that much bigger, which just can't be allowed to fly, so I put some plasticard onto the bottom of his feet and base to help tallifie him.

I also wanted to try out the guitar string I just got. Apparently there's a music store a few blocks from my house, and I figured I'd check out the string since people have been talking about how useful it is. So, showing off his swank new power pack for his Power Klaw. Need some greenstuff gap filling now.
