Quick and simple, can a unit choosing the charge reaction of stand and shoot use a multi shot weapon?
In the description of stand and shoot, it says refer to the section on shooting, but doesn't say it counts as a "shooting phase".
Multi shot weapons say you can only shoot multiple times in the "shooting phase".
Is this a case closed RAW ruling then? Anyone play it that you can?

The only rules for shooting are under the shooting section, which speak of the shooting phase. A stand and shoot allows the unit to shoot as if it were the shooting face (hence it refers to that section). So, yes, multishot weapons follow their rules normally.

Jmurph already answered, but I'll just throw in my 2cp here as this seems to be a hot topic with DE about to be released. I had always assumed that you couldn't multi-shoot as a stand and shoot, but after having a lengthy discussion about it with my brother-in-law (who favoured it), we called Games Workshop and they told us, yep you can -- just take the extra - to hit.

I've rarely come across it, but I've certainly always allowed it and have never thought twice about it. Unless I'm completely out of touch with the mainstream, I think you'd be in trouble with a lot of DE players if you told them they couldn't use their expensive RXBs to multishot right before you obliterate the unit.

You absolutely can multi-shoot as a stand and shoot - the wording of he section within the BRB specifically allows for this.

Interesting. I didn't imagine so many would play it this way on Dakka.
Most of the older WHFB editions always had explicit text that prohibited shooting multiple times as a stand and shoot charge reaction. So when I couldn't find anything in this version I wondered if they allowed it.
My problem with it is that it specifically states you can shoot multiple times in the shooting phase. In stand and shoot, it says you reference the shooting section, but it never says you count it as a shooting phase. The shooting section doesn't even have the rules for multi shots. It does speak of it in passing, but there is nothing there that references it. It is only in the weapon descriptions, and it states when it can be used, which is the shooting phase.
At first thought, I also came to the conclusion multi shot could be used during stand and shoot, but then I ran across this from the High Elf FAQ.
It seems to take the literal on those phases, and seems to back up the conclusion I have come to.
Thoughts?

Well, the bow doesn't have the multiple shots rule. So this ruling seems to apply only to this bow. For the same reason it doesn't get the -1 to hit (it isn't a Multiple Shots weapon), we can't use it to gauge whether or not Multiple Shots weapons can multiple fire during a stand and shoot.
Did that make sense?

Additionally, the Reaver Bow is a magic item that specifically limits its action to the shooting phase, otherwise it is treated as a longbow (which can only S&S 1 shot).
I see your logic, though. I think that is why previous editions specifically excluded the multishot stand and shoot. That is not in 7th, though.
