You blokes in the Southern Hemisphere seem to think a lot of yourself. The irony of course is that none of the 3 nations qualifies to be a member of the "Global South." Probably why they can afford high level rugby play.
Having said that, I don't get Setanta at school. And I don't have the free time to head over to the one pub in town of British ancestry and hope the game is on. Actually, in a few weeks when I get home, my favorite local pub, also of British ancestry, will certainly have the games on. Hoom.
EDIT: I just finished playing my 2nd year of rugby in the highest division (at the university level) in the US. Front row FTW!! I am now retired.

"The last known instance of common sense happened at a GT. A player tried to use the 'common sense' argument vs. Mauleed to justify his turbo-boosted bikes getting a saving throw vs. Psycannons. The player's resulting psychic death scream erased common sense from the minds of 40k players everywhere. " - Ozymandias

When you have an economy that's on the verge of a big recession, dwindling resources leading to regular 5 hour blackouts in the East, record rates of r@pes, carjackings, murders, 1000 people dying a day of AIDS, huge amounts of corruption in government and big businesses and quota policies that limit the working abilities of part of the population (hence why I'm working in the uk)...............what else do we have left but sport?
We don't think a lot of ourselves, we just KNOW for sure we are 2x World Champions lol

Its running out of money, grass roots player numbers is dropping and its been relying on snatching high profile rugby league players away (and they have done very well).
We easily beat Ireland a few weeks ago and thrashed an understrength France last weekend.
I just wish they would do something about the number of penalties, and lower the points for a penalty conversion because it gets very boring when the game is always stopping and all the points scored are from penalty kicks.

I've never had a problem with penalties being worth 3 points, but I do agree that the number of infractions that result in a penalty kick should be reduced somewhat
Living in England, the general consensus seems to be that Penalties should be worth 7 points and should be given for everything lol

As rugby league is much, much more popular in Oz its easy to see why as the game flows so much faster.
I like rugby union more in all respects except for the penalties and penalty conversions.
But aussie rules is better than all your ball sports.
Gary Moorcroft (who is 5 foot 6 inches tall) and Essendon FTW!

I'm a Fremantle Dockers fan myself, but I would be lying if I said it was more than a casual interest lol
My favourite sport by some distance is cricket, followed by rugby union and then football- With the cricket team being downright bullied by England right now and the football team in complete shambles it's all up to the rugby to salvage the weekend lol

There are alot of south africans here in Oz. They have been flocking here the last decade.
Most (farmer types especially) have settled in western Australia.

Yes, something like 250,000 white South Africans have emigrated since 1994- most of them to either the UK or Australia it seems. I remember watching a documentary a few years ago on the amount of South African military personnel that have moved to Australia's armed forces, most notably the Air Force

Very entertaining half of rugby, although South Africa only ahead by 2 despite having largely the better play in the first half. I think the referee has been very 'fussy' so far and the commentators even mentioned he was penalty happy, after giving out 50+ penalties a few weeks ago during a match between Argentina and Italy

I thought Ricky Januarie had a very good game today and he deserved a vital try for his efforts. Hugely exciting game to watch and I'm eagerly looking forward to Australia vs. South Africa at the Subiaco Oval in Perth

The good thing about us is, because we don't rate ourselves TOO highly, most of our School students can at least name the Capital Cities of Countries they DON'T live in.
I like that about Australia.

Watched most of it (from about the 25 minute mark) with music blaring, whilst playing pool, and severely inebriated at the pub.
Made for a great game.
