what size list would it be best to play him in? / is he worth playing? I'd kinda like to use him in some way... i don't think i've ever used him... i'ma make a list, see if it'l work.

He is by far the most amazing non nightbringer IC out there. He is definatly worh it, in most all size games. But he is probably best in games 1500 or over.

okay, here goes. also, i threw in kharn for funsies:

HQ
Kharn the betrayer: 165
Abaddon the despoiler: 275

Total HQ: 440.

10 khorne berserkers: 210. champion with power weapon (30) total: 240

10 chaos space marines: 150. Icon of nurgle, (50), 1 heavy bolter (10), and 1 plasma gun: (15). Champion (15) with power weapon: (15) rhino (35) with combi flamer (5). total: 295

total troops: 775

heavy support:

two land raiders (220 each, berserkers mounted within) +daemonic posession on both, 40 points. total: 480

chaos defiler, with havoc launcher: 155.

total heavy support: 635

grand total: 1850.

ok, there is one thing that really jumps out at me. You need to make those berzerkr squads smaller. One needs to be a 9 man and one an 8 man so that Kharn and abbadon can both be in land raiders.

it might be effective to deep strike abaddon, as he can take down entire squads with relative ease... as for kharn, I don't know what i'd do with him... 21 points is an annoying thing to replace.

if you deepstike abbadon by himself he will get shot to peices. he needs a retinue if you plan to do that.

if you put him and kharn in land raiders you will save 61 points, which you can spend chaming that CSM squad to plague marines and giving your berserker champions powerfists.

thing is, i don't have plague marines, nor the funds to acquire them... here's my solution for myself:

8 khorne berserkers: 168 points, asp. champion with power fist (40) total: 208
9 khorne berserkers: 189 points, asp. champion with power fist: (40) total: 229

add a power fist to the CSM squad champion, for 10 more points, add a TL lascannon to the defiler (20), and a combiflamer to one of the landraiders (10), because i'm out of options.

total: 1847.

also, another idea I had was taking out the defiler and some wargear, and adding in 3 obliterators... any thoughts?

just use regular marines for plague marines, thats what i did for 30 of them :O

make sure you paint them nurgley, and add in some nurgle marks with greenstuff. you can replace the chainswords with the combat blades that come on the sprue to make them look like the old plague knives.

this is also what i'm doing to make plague marines. a bit of greenstuff and a paint job goes a long way if you dont have any cash to throw around. they really are worth that little bit of extra investment.
