Background:

I was, once upon a time, many years ago an avid comic collector, primarily the x-titles from Marvel and Spawn from Image. However the dream ended when I hit 10 comics per month to follow the story in the x-titles and gave up on them after the Age of Apocalypse crossover.

But I still love the x-men (especially wolverine) and so whilst on holidays in the US last year I popped into a comicbook store (on the southern end of times squre no less) and spotted a poster so glorious it had to be mine.

It has sat in a postal tube since I bought it in September until 2 weeks ago when I took it in to be framed. Today I picked it up in all its 5 foot by 2 foot 1 inch glory.

Cost of poster: $13.99 US
Cost of Framing: $250 US

But worth every penny now I get to stare it above my painting and computer desks.
The full pic, my 17 inch monitor is in the lower left corner of the pic.

Very nice.
Totally worth it if you ask me.

I had a flag (sounds weird, I know) framed, but im glad that i knew someone that was able to do it for me.

So I paid about 30€ for a flag of a group that no longer exists, about 25€ for the building materials of the frame and ended up building it together with my mate.

It didnt turn out as gloriously as yours did (and im not kiddin here), but things like that are really worth every cent and any effort you put into it.

Well done.

Looks pretty sweet.

More of a DC fan myself but some nice art there still.

Must get round to getting my Dita Von Teese print framed.

We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.

Great looking art there Gonads, well worth it me thinks. Who's the artist, Lee maybe?

Reminds me that I'd really like to get my hands on some original (or a print there of, not picky) Doug Mahnke art and get that framed up ftw. Or maybe some of Wood's work on Hellspawn, also excellent art there.

Ah....Big Apple Comics. They have a color version of that poster up near their entrance. Great store.

That being said: The poster's fantastic (although I've always found Prof X to look a little awkward in this poster). Also, it's amazing how much a good frame enhances a poster/print/what-have-you.

Boss: It does seem to be very much Jim Lee-like.

Looking at the poster closely - Picture 3 - I believe the artist is David Finch. Gonads can probably confirm or disprove this.

Haha, 5'x2'? I've worked with 4'x2' frames before and that must've been a pain to clamp.

$250 sounds about right.

Then some weird chinese character type symbol with a spiral at the bottom of the character, and a small 9 after it...
