So after browsing all of the IG regiments, I found the Finreht Highlanders. I really liked the rugged, guerilla look of them, but didn't like the fluff. I wanted something nobody has really done, so while perusing the lexicanum some more, I discovered the minor/"anti-chaos" chaos god Necoho. So with that I decided I would make an IG army based around Necoho...a guerilla, outcast guard army fighting out of rocky/woody terrain. I decided against making it very chaotic because it seems against the idea of Necoho. I plan on using wood elf legs, cadian torso + arms, and marauder/flagellant heads, with various cloaks and such to make the army look rugged. I haven't decided on a color scheme but I am leaning towards earthy colors, particularly brown with maybe some dark green in there.

Now my first model is the standard bearer. I found one of my favorite models, an old WHFB chaos sorcerer, and decided to convert him into a standard bearer. I used some spikey stuff and some CSM arms to replace the staff he was previously holding. I really want to paint him, but I figure holding off for a head is a better idea.

I was thinking of dropping the standard all together and converting this guy into my officer, since I love the model so much and I don't really know of what unique model I can use for the officer.

C&C appreciated!!

One of my favorite models also! I think you should use him as THE Officer for your IG idea. The model is too cool to be anything else but the boss, plus the model is very stocky and solid and would lend itself to a powerfull figure that could lead the army anyway. just my 2 cents.

Here are the 2 main colors of the army on the leader. I removed the standard and added a chainsword (although I will probably change the chainsword to something more brute-ish later)

Let me know what you think! I need suggestions on a color to paint the stitches of the robes particularly.

Here's the headless and finished leader/test model. These are the major colors I will be using. The leaf litter used is the summer version, I've ordered the autumn version as well as autumn static grass to give the base more contrast.

Suggestions for a head?

Heh. I was just going to ask what you were thinking of using for a head. The mounted Lord of Nurgle has got a pretty cool head. I'm trying to find an older model from one of the summer campaigns a couple years ago that would have a good head, but can't remember the name of it. I saw it used in a Nurgle army recently here on Dakka - it's got rags hanging down over its face, with only one eye showing...

Man, I wish there was a real Black Library where I could get a Black Library Card and take out Black Library Books without having to buy them. Of course, late fees would be your soul. But it would be worth it. - InquisitorMack

Some pre-GS, pre-cleaning updates. Here is my officer w/ head and first 5 troopers. This project is going to go pretty slow since I want to take a lot of time on individual models.
